About this ebook

My book Poems for the Day is a compilation of Poems written at a deeply tormented time of my life. I wrote my first poems when I was on a houseboat at Smiths Creek on Hawkesbury River in N.S.W. a time that seemed to pull the Poems out of me. That was in 2007, when I wrote my first Poetry, only about six Poems in all, I have included some of them in my book for you to read. Then no more Poems until the Christmas of 2010.

From Christmas 2010 through 2011, I wrote poems like Mad Woman they just poured out of me, like a waterfall, and no one was more surprised than me! A very faith filled, anxiety laced time, and at this point space doesnt permit me to go in too. Sufficient to day, writing Poetry was a very comforting pass time for me, and being a big fan and student of William Shakespeare, Poetry has always held a Special Place in my Heart right from my Grade six reader, where I discovered My Country by Dorothy McKellar.

It is my hope that whoever reads my poetry will be warmed inside out of by my Poems.

Poems like When someone you love is sick will help you to understand where I was coming from at a very difficult and creative time in my life.

Thank you for sharing my experience, for you makes it all worthwhile!

Sherril L. Carss

My name is Sherril Lorraine Carss; I was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1954, being the daughter of Joseph William Carss, a staff Sergeant in the Australian army and a Wonderful Dad! Who was unfortunately diagnosed with Schizophrenia and passed away sadly when I was just a little girl of five, bringing deep grief to my Mother, Mavis Ellen Carss my older sister Beverley, and myself. Losing my father at such an early stage, has shaped my life rather significantly, as I loved my father dearly and have never totally gotten over his losing him, his absence has always been acutely felt in my life. I was bought up to attend Sunday School at St. Johns, Church of England, in Melbourne. My Mother on marriage had converted to Protestantism and so her spiritual journey began. My childhood was not supremely happy due to the loss of her Husband. My Mother was grieving deeply, but mum was always there for us and courageously bought us up alone. I attended school at Tooronga Road State School, where I learnt to love Poetry, then Malvern Girls High; I left in year 10 as I found a job at Australian Musical Industries. I married at the age of eighteen, and had my first daughter, I married again unsuccessfully, but through my marriages I had another two daughters all of whom were beautiful babies, a total of three daughters, that I love very much, now I cheerfully add one granddaughter and four grandsons, who are very much loved and I am very proud of them all, indeed! I have been employed as a carer since 1993; to the care of my middle daughter, unfortunately, she was also diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Terasa is also the mother of my 3rd grandson Daniel, my daughter has come a long way, and is very well these days which is a long awaited answer, to prayer, with continued reliance on God’s Grace. This is snip it of where I bring my Poetry from, becoming a Born again Christian in 1983 with Grateful Thanks to God working through The Mackay Baptist Church for their loving and timely help; At the time I was young mother of three children alone, going through Great Personal Turmoil, and on the Edge, The Baptist People pulled me to Safety. This is a small excerpt of my journey, of which you are most welcome, to accompany me.

Poems for the Day - Sherril L. Carss

I Loved, My Daddy and Me!

With My Daddy and Me! There Would Always, be a We! Yes! He Loved

Me! Make No Mistake! He Was Never, on the Take! Only Looking for to

Give! And He Was Always, there, for Me! He Would Always Look and See, if

Something Bad, Was Worrying Me! He Would Never, Push Me Aside! And

He Was Never, Keen to Chide! And it’s With a Mixture, of Great Joy! And

Great Sadness! That I Remember Him, because He is Gone, and I Was

Too! I Was Just to Little, to Suffer His Loss.

I Loved, My Daddy and Me.

Just Thinking of Him Still Brings Tears, but I have Belief! After All these

Years! And I Can Believe! I Will See Him, Again! I Respected, and Loved Him

So! I Couldn’t Bear to See Him Go! I Wanted to Know Him All My Life!

He, Would of Taught Me How to Avoid Strife! I Was Just His Little Girl

Looking Up at Him! And Doing Somersaults On His Thumbs! Watching

While He Blessed, Our Dog! Hold the Cone, and Let Him Lick! That Would

Always, Do the Trick! He Would Never, Make Me Wait! He’d Stop the Car

At the Gate! Off Course, We’d Always Find a Tree!

And He Was Something! Yes Siree! And

I Loved, My Daddy and Me.

The Memories, Still Come Flooding Back! Too When I’m Looking Down

    The Track! He Was Kind, I’d Always Find! A Loving Smile! A Gentle Touch;

And Oh, I Loved Him! Oh! So Much! My Daddy! He Was Good! And He

Gave Me, Good Things to Eat! Like a Big Piece of Yummy Fish! Wrapped

in Whitepaper! He Didn’t Want to Burn His Tot! Sometimes Baked Beans!

Now, Baked Beans, I Didn’t Like! But I Could Never, Refuse Him! With All

My Might! But Beverley! My Big Sister! She Would Happily Oblige!

She loved Baked Beans! Thank God for Beverley!

I Loved, My Daddy and Me.

He Taught Me, the Meaning of Respect! Just by being With Him, He Was

The Best! And I Was Blest, to See His Face! What a Person! What a Pace!

I Could Never Meet Anyone, to Take His Place! If Only Others’ Were More

Like Him! That Would Surely Make Me Grin! My Heart, Truly Does Belong

To My Daddy! As the Song Goes! Those Were the Days My Friends!

And I Hoped! They’d Never End! My Love I’ll Always Send.

Yes! I Love, My Daddy and Me!

    A Good Movie!

Hey! It’s Great, to Watch a Good

    Movie! Wouldn’t You Say, it’s

    Absolutely Groovy! Even Though Sad,

    Never Bad! Always Soothing,

A Serious Fad! Fabulously! And Deliciously

Had! Not a Melody! But Every Bit as Good!

    Sounds Like You Must, See!

    A Good Movie!

Oh! How You Feel, When You Sit and

Steal Away from the Fray! And Love the

    Day! Forget Reality! It’s Soon

    A Memory! And You Wish,

    It Would Never End!

    A Good Movie!

A Good Movie Knows, How to Send You,

And to Fend You! Thoroughly, from

    Boredom! On that, My Friend!

    You Can Depend!

    A Good Movie!

    Love Me, Love Me Mine

    When I Say, Love Me, Love Me, Mine;

I Mean What I Say! Never Sway from

My Mark! Hark! I Hear the Sound of

Voices! Voices! That I Love! That’s

Why I Say Love Me, Love Me Mine.

Never Hurt Me Always there, Wash

Away the Care, With Air! Sounds So

Gentle, as a Petal Wofting Gently

O the Hills, No More Chills. That’s

Why I Say Love Me, Love Me Mine.

No More ills, Once I’ve Heard
