Author

Mats’eliso T. Matseletsele

Mats’eliso Matseletsele was born and raised in Lesotho, Southern Africa. Poetry skills are part of her upbringing. Many in the Mountain Kingdom are gifted with the unique skill of making up a song in an instant. It is a way to rise to the occasion of life, given by passed legends of faith and founders of the small African nation.  Many Basotho Poets cite poetry in their native tongue to praise their ancestry. According to the author she recognized her poetic skills as she repeatedly bragged about her ancestry. It was always commented, “You should write and publish.” The comment meant nothing until a fateful near death encounter. Not hers; someone else’s. This is her first book. There’ll be more in the future. The goal is to build an up-to-date hospital in Lesotho by the year 2020. Mats’eliso’s Poetic accomplishments include: Four times nominated for International Poet of the year, Three times, Winner of Editor’s Choice Awards with the International Library of poetry, two times International Poet of merit award winner in 2002, and featured in several “Letters From the Soul” series anthologies by the International Library of poetry. The Noble House Publishing in U.K, also features her in their anthology, “Theatre of the mind.”

    PREFACE

You turned my mourning into joyous dancing. Psalm 30:11

2002 is the year that filled my life with magic. It also marks 20 years since my father entered immortality. Preceding events started in the last quarter of 2001. In a strange bizarre twist of events, I attached myself to Lesotho’s historical laureate, LBBJ and his life threatening long-term illness. At our first encounter, LBBJ asked to speak on behalf of my father. He did not know my father. I took this to mean he is transferring to me his love for his daughters. I transferred to him my love for my father. This is not to say LBBJ replaces my father in my heart. LBBJ has since become Awakening to love as an outlet for passions buried by grief for my late father.

It was my father who said someday I’d stand among the nations of the world. Being among international poets is exactly that. When LBBJ encouraged me to write, him and his wife only knew of my confessed fragile mental state since my father’s passing. Poetry comes to me as a whisper of words I cannot ignore. For years I thought of the rhythmic bad sing along in my head as demonic voices that disturb my peace. Letting them out in verse has given me much solace about my father’s passing at age 44. LBBJ asked to speak on my father’s behalf and put me where my father said I’d be. In verses where it may sound I’m angry, just remember that I found a personalrelationship with God in wrath after he took my precious father. God is a nice guy after all.

    God gave me a miracle.
