About this ebook
Avery Locklear
Avery Locklear was born in Robeson County North Carolina, to the parents of the late Rev. Luther Locklear Jr. and Mrs. Helen Lee Jacobs Locklear. Avery Locklear resides in Lumberton, North Carolina. He is a descendent of the Lumbee Indian Tribe of North Carolina. As a young boy he loved to read and write. He mostly enjoyed reading true stories about the life and culture of people. After the death of his parents he began to reflect on memories from his own childhood. Avery felt inspired to write about his own culture and from the teachings of his parents. Times were tough leaving the farming fields and jobs were few and far between. After high school Avery spent ten years in the military, three with the Marine Corps and seven with the Army National Guard. After Avery left the military he began writing again. Avery’s writing expresses his deep poetic feelings about the love and tragedy he has experienced throughout his life, growing up in North Carolina and during his military travels in country and abroad to Germany and Italy. His writings convey a deep spiritual message and heart felt feelings that seem to echo a mixture of his culture and memories from his father’s sermons. Through sharing his poetry it is Avery’s sincere desire to inspire, encourage, and to offer hope to people from all walks of life. To give back a written treasure to our society, to find solutions for some of life’s daily problems that we all face and to help others rebuild relationships.

The Pains and Pleasures of Love and Life - Avery Locklear
A Brand New Start
2676.jpgSometimes I wonder over and over again
Of all the things, that could have been.
Memories that linger, on my mind;
Some that; haunt me, all the time.
As I look back at the past,
There are some things, I wish would last.
But nothing lasts forever.
Yesterday’s gone.
I can’t stop now, I must move on.
I don’t know what the future holds.
I just live one day at a time.
I know there’s no hope if I look behind.
Sometimes the road gets rough, sometimes wrong turns are made.
But in all my mistakes, I must also learn,
Each day; I live to do my best.
I won’t settle for nothing more or nothing less.
To live life to its fullest, I’m sure to reach my mark.
But to make life better, I must make a brand new start.
A Love of a Lifetime
2678.jpgThere is nothing quite like the love we share.
No matter what comes between us, our love will always be there.
As we hold each other close, and as we embrace.
There’s nothing in the world that could ever take your place;
Of a love like ours that’s so true and divine,
One that’s different and one of a kind;
And when we’re together or if we’re far away;
We still love each other in a very special way;
In good times or bad we will never drift
