    CHAPTER 1

    INTRODUCTION

    One thing which I have learnt in my life is that no matter what circumstances may be surrounding my life: God is always in control. He has the final say about whom I am and what is to become of me thus I just have to praise Him for His mercies indeed endure forever. My story might not be like the children of Israel’s story but God has saved me from different situations in my life. Where my circumstances spoke death; God spoke life. Where my circumstances said I was defeated; God said I was an overcomer and where my circumstances closed doors on me; God opened the doors and for this I thank God and wish to share my story with many so that everybody who reads this story might get to know how good God is. That which God says over one’s life is final, hold on to His word and be able to give thanks to the Lord for indeed His mercies endure forever as Psalm 136 below aptly captures:

    ¹ Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.

    His love endures forever.

    ² Give thanks to the God of gods.

    His love endures forever.

    ³ Give thanks to the Lord of lords:

    His love endures forever.

    ⁴ to him who alone does great wonders,

    His love endures forever.

    ⁵ who by his understanding made the heavens,

    His love endures forever.

    ⁶ who spread out the earth upon the waters,

    His love endures forever.

    ⁷ who made the great lights—

    His love endures forever.

    ⁸ the sun to govern the day,

    His love endures forever.

    ⁹ the moon and stars to govern the night;

    His love endures forever.

    ¹⁰ to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt

    His love endures forever.

    ¹¹ and brought Israel out from among them

    His love endures forever.

    ¹² with a mighty hand and outstretched arm;

    His love endures forever.

    ¹³ to him who divided the Red Sea[a] asunder

    His love endures forever.

    ¹⁴ and brought Israel through the midst of it,

    His love endures forever.

    ¹⁵ but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea;

    His love endures forever.

    ¹⁶ to him who led his people through the wilderness;

    His love endures forever.

    ¹⁷ to him who struck down great kings,

    His love endures forever.

    ¹⁸ and killed mighty kings—

    His love endures forever.

    ¹⁹ Sihon king of the Amorites

    His love endures forever.

    ²⁰ and Og king of Bashan—

    His love endures forever.

    ²¹ and gave their land as an inheritance,

    His love endures forever.

    ²² an inheritance to his servant Israel.

    His love endures forever.

    ²³ He remembered us in our low estate

    His love endures forever.

    ²⁴ and freed us from our enemies.

    His love endures forever.

    ²⁵ He gives food to every creature.

    His love endures forever.

    ²⁶ Give thanks to the God of heaven.

    His love endures forever.

    The story of my life is about events which took place in my life and when I reflect on these, I just see God’s hand at work. Some of these events did take place long before I was born and some before I even became a Christian. They are just a testimony of God’s grace and love. I did not do anything to deserve what He did in my life but He did it all the same! God loved me, called me, provided, protected and healed me before I knew Him. When I look at my life I just see the wonders of His grace, God has been faithful to me. It is now my turn to be faithful to Him by writing my story. Ezekiel chapter 33 verses 2 to 7 cited below resonate very well with my experience as it says:

    ² "Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman, ³and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people, then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.

    "So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me.

    The above verses talk about Ezekiel being appointed as a watchman. His assignment was to speak God’s word to the children of Israel and warn them of the consequences of their sins giving them time to reflect and repent and therefore escape from the judgement which would have accompanied the sin. I strongly believe that the Lord is assigning me this opportunity to narrate the stories of my life in the context of different scriptures which I believe will minister to the needs of other people in similar situations. My prayer is that those who read this biography will have their lives transformed as well.

    CHAPTER 2

    THE PARTING WORDS

    Have you ever had an urgency to do something in your life? Have you ever felt that time is running out and whatever has to be done has to be done there and then? I call those moments dying moments, whether a person actually dies after those moments or not because those moments are moments when changes are going on in one’s life. Have you ever regretted not following your instincts about things? God is always speaking to mankind and all we need to do is to tune in to
