FOREWORD
The renowned 16th century artist, Michaelangelo, is probably best known for his pain-staking renderings painted on the ceiling of Rome’s Sistine Chapel. He is also recognized as the sculptor who created the near-flawless statue called David.
Of this sculpture, Michaelangelo is reported to have said, I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.
In Diamonds in the Rough Unveiled author, Balderes Alvarez suggests that God our Creator desires to set free
diamonds hidden in rough stones. As readers progress through each entry, they are encouraged to allow God to carve away the rough stone that conceals their true selves; the ‘self’ uniquely
