Sarreta Lopez

My name is Sareeta Lopez and the qualifications that I have for writing this book of poetry is my life experiences. My book is something that I've really been working on since I was 15 but didn't really react until last year when I was inspired by so many people. Each time I go to the store or library and tell others about writing a book of poetry, they are really excited for me. So many people go through so much in their lifetime and think that they are the only one going through their situations. Until they branch out and find common ground with others, they are in their own little world. This is one of the reasons why I would like to share this book with the world. I am a single mother like every other female in this life, making a life for my son and I. I'm working my way through school and eventually, I'll sell books to accomplsih more of the goals I have set for myself.

    NOT AS SILLY

You think I’m a silly broad,

    Shallow as steal,

But I’m here to tell you I’m real.

You may not know but I’m ready and there’s nobody who’s got the power to upset me,

Maybe reset me and send me to the next level,

Be ready for me to prove you wrong because I’m about to pedal.

From 2 feet, a bike to self-adjustable leather seats, I’m ready,

You’ll be there like the rest of them, throwing confetti.

    Brother

Why did you stand there and watch me struggle?

Any fight we have been through, we have fought them through our ancestors,

You would rather stick your hands in your pockets,

    Ignoring your sister.

I look at you not because I want to get you in my bed…

I’m looking to see your soul,

I’m a strong woman but you may be a weak man,

For your attention, I refuse to beg.

    Why do
