Mindset - Richard Brock
Introduction
Do you ever stop and listen to your own thoughts? Often, we create discussions in our own heads and knowingly or unknowingly change the course of our lives by doing so. Have you ever thought about where you are in life or where you want to be? What about the people around you? Have you found yourself judging people based upon their behavior? The chances are that you criticize both yourself and others within the darkness of your mind and don’t even realize that you are doing it. The problem with this kind of thinking is that it tends to make mountains out of molehills and can lead to all kinds of stresses that are totally unnecessary in the ordinary order of things. What does it matter that your husband put his shirt on inside out? What does it matter that someone said something that offended you? What does it say about you? The echoes that we have going on in our minds are all of our own making.
We can go through life blaming everyone else on earth for our unhappiness. In fact, we generally do use other people as being to blame because it’s an easy way out. However, what you do need to learn to do is harvest positive thoughts and starts to change your whole approach to life. Why? Well, let’s put it this way. There are millions of people worldwide who are suffering from stress. The amount of medication being doled out in the United States alone is frightening. And it’s not just that! One would have thought that with the amount of drugs being prescribed, people would either become very calm or would certainly have seen some improvement in their lives, and yet the figures keep on increasing.
It’s interesting to see what scientists have seen. When they checked a scan of the brain of a Buddhist monk and compared it with the brain of someone who was not a monk, what they found were fundamental differences which led them to believe that when you cut out the negativity in your life and learn to think in a positive manner, you really do improve the quality of your life and your life improves. The creative side of the brain is more active and there’s room for the child inside to actually come out and enjoy being that he is. In the western world, we have largely forgotten how to do this and it’s a great shame.
In this book, I hope to be able to help you to think in a positive way and learn to put negativity behind you because it is not helping your life. In fact, the more negative your thoughts, the more likely you are to be unhappy. Thus, you need to start looking at life from a totally different perspective and start to find the joy that every human being on Earth is entitled to.
Chapter One: Where are you Now?
Sometimes you need to look at your current life to see where things are going wrong. It's never a bad idea to honestly appraise
