About this ebook

This book unfolds the burden of reassessing how the work should be done in the Lords vineyard. We thank God that they that sit in darkness have gotten the opportunity to see a great light. This great light has revealed to us the avalanche of recycled errors that the Church has continued to peddle with relish within the last two decades. As a result of the continuous exposure to them, they have become the norm rather than the exception. These errors have become so entrenched that challenging them is like confronting a fast moving train headlong. Going through the book will provide us with hard facts why change is necessary at this time and why we need to watch out and not fall prey to the 10 dangerous possessions.

    Dedication

I dedicate this book to all the men of God who at one point or the other contributed to my growth in my Christian race. They are too numerous to mention per person. I say to you all, thank you.

    Acknowledgements

I wish to acknowledge some wonderful folks who kept asking me directly or indirectly about the book I had been working on. These were the catalyst that the Lord had used to make this book a reality. After series of prolonged delay, I thank God that this book is eventually out. The demands of ministry coupled with the need to meet up with certain challenges in life that posed questions at the root of my belief, and raised the fact that spiritual warfare is a necessity for survival in this present darkness, hinder the progress of work.

I wish to thank my amiable wife Dr. (Mrs) Abidemi Olubisi Ayeni, and my able supporters, encouragers and friends in ministry which include Pastor and Pastor (Mrs.) Abiodun Coker, Pastor and Pastor (Mrs.) Ebenezer Ropo Tusin, Pastor and Rev (Mrs.) Bayo Adeku, Pastor and Pastor (Mrs.) O. J. Kuye, Pastor and Mrs. Chryss Okonofua, Deacon and Mrs. Olanrewaju Sobo, Deacon and Mrs. Wole Adeyi, and Deacon and Mrs. Tunde Adebiyi. I wish to thank you all for your various contributions. I also appreciate all of you, who have contributed in one way or the other whose names are not mentioned here. God bless and keep you in Jesus name. Amen

    Preface

This book unfolds the burden of reassessing how the work in the Lord’s vineyard ought to be done. We thank God that they that sit in darkness have seen a great light. This great light reveals to us the avalanche of recycled errors that the Church has continued to commit within the last two decades. As a result of the continuous exposure to them, they have become the norm rather than the exception. These errors have become so entrenched that challenging them is like confronting a fast moving train headlong, and expectedly, the impact of the collision would be very devastating.

These errors have been strongly impressed on peoples’ psyche in church, conferences, seminars, and Bible Colleges etc. Having graduated and procured the opportunity to put the Bible college teachings to test, they have discovered that zeal requires knowledge to work within the context of grace.

Under the guise of zeal for God’s work, many people have done the unimaginable, which is a feature of blind workmen. How we do the work is important to our Master, who has called us into his vineyard to serve. His expectation is that we function as servant-leaders. Falling short of this is a sign of not experiencing him as Lord, and this may in fact, make the work unacceptable.

This book is aimed at helping the believer to have a clearer understanding of where we fall short to some degree. It is to make us see the deception of Satan who makes us to believe we are serving God, as we do our own works, when actually we are not. This effort is basically an attempt to awaken our consciousness, elicit a need for repentance in our hearts, by looking inward in order to forge a change.

As I conclude, I pray that as many as have been misled through watching what those ahead had done, will have a change of heart by returning to the right path, so that the work in God’s house may not suffer corruption. There is hope not only for him that believeth, but he that is willing to prayerfully pay the price for restoration.

My prayer is that the Lord who has called us into faith is able to empower, sustain, and prove himself in us until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ our savior and Lord. It is well.

    Chapter One

    This Present Darkness

And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him - Gen15:13

    Introduction

Consider this account shared with me by a friend. A female prayer leader of a local Church where he went to preach, told him during the after service chitchat "Man of God I don’t believe God answers prayers."

He was shocked beyond words. But on cross-examination he discovered that the sister had spoken from deep-rooted bitterness from her heart. She was bitter against God. She had been praying for a life partner since nineteen, and now over forty with no engagement not to talk of marriage, all hope was lost. She needed to vent her anger on someone, and surprisingly God was her choice.

The above scenario is a clear case of frustration, lost hope, shattered dreams, with corresponding shattered foundations because Hope deferred maketh the heart sick… (Prov. 13:12). This gives us a picture of one of the many experiences and consequent reactions of some Christians in this end time.

Many people have continued to wonder why our prayers are not answered in spite of our continuous cries. If this is your situation, you are not alone we all go through it, and even David the man after God’s heart went through several lamentations over his own soul. He found peace with God, not bitterness, in the midst of his troubles and he always encouraged himself in the Lord.

But why is the present situation a stormy one, you may ask? While, the answer may not be fully proffered, however, this much is known and that is the fact that the Lord had warned us about the end time war
