About this ebook

Everyone has a specific purpose for which they were born. However, we don't arrive with a manual telling us what it is or how to go about finding it. We must discover it. The process can be drawn out and sometimes very discouraging. It's like going to school, where you learn, then do a test to confirm that you have actually imbibed what has been taught. There are high and low points in this learning process. There are many unexpected turns along the way.

Dove Eyes, My Journey to Finding Purpose is about those high and low moments, about those unexpected turns. They all lead to the place where you discover what you're all about and can then walk in God's plan for your life. Chinwe tells her story to encourage and inspire people through the process. She answers some of the questions that plague people who are in the process. It's an easy to read story that will help people through the process of understanding themselves. Happy reading.

    DEDICATION

I dedicate this book to Iyke, the man through whom God has shown me so much love. You have loved me like no one else has and I truly love you. Our life together has been a beautiful story of God’s faithfulness. I bless God for you, everyday that I breathe.

I also remember my children, Dikachi, Maruche, Ginika and Neto, who are proof of God’s faithfulness to me. You have brought so much joy to my life. I love you all.

I remember my late Mum. She was such a dear. Mummy, I saw you cry so many times and I am glad that you no longer cry because you’re now in the bossom of the Master. I miss you so much.

My Father is also close to my heart at this time. Daddy, I didn’t always understand you but I truly appreciate you. You are a big part of what I am today. Thank you for doing it the best way you knew how. I love you.

I also appreciate my sister and brother-in-law, Pastor Olamide and Ndidi Adekunle, whose tremendous help and motivation made this work possible. You patiently edited the book and I am grateful. The Lord will visit you with great rewards for all your effort.

I am grateful to all my Dove Eyes Partners and friends, who have supported me from the beginning to date. In particular, I thank Pastor Nike Adeyemi for believing in me and the Dove Eyes project.

I thank Mr Tunde Ajewole, the CEO of Ebecks Productions and Matthew Fojuwaye, the Production Engineer for all the support they have given Dove Eyes. You have sown in Dove Eyes, your harvest is sure. Thank you.

Above all, I bow in humble adoration to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who has indeed called me His Dove Eyes. I love you Lord.

    Thank you

    MY THOUGHTS

Life can become a competition. The only reason we compete is because we feel we are in a race. But are we? Since everybody does not have the same destination, we should not be in any race. Our lives have different purposes, so we should not be competing against each other.

My house is bigger than yours, my car is faster than yours, my husband is richer than yours, my wife is prettier than yours-these have become the elements of the competition. My children are smarter than yours, my jewelry is more expensive than yours, my church is bigger than yours- to what purpose are all these? Are these what life is really all about?

We lose focus from fulfilling our purpose in life. When we fall short in the contest, we feel we have failed. We feel bad. We complain because we feel God has abandoned us. We feel He has failed us. Meanwhile, it is all because of a self imposed contest we got ourselves into. The truth is that God is faithful. He never fails. But He only stands behind His purpose, not our endless selfish desires.

Instead of this contest we should channel all our energies to understanding God’s plans for our lives at each stage and chasing after them. As we achieve these goals, we feel a strong sense of well being because we are not racing against anyone. Our race is against the plan God set before us.

I once watched a drama, where a young Christian girl who was serving God all she could was accosted by an old man with a telescope. She felt she was in right standing with her Father until, the old man asked her to look into the telescope.

‘Young woman, look into the telescope and tell me what you see’. The young lady looked and she saw two parallel lines. One was very long while the other was much shorter.

‘What does this mean old man? The old man answered, ‘The short line represents all the work you have done for God. The long line is all the work God expects you to have done, but you’re really lagging behind’.

The young girl was glad for the opportunity to get back on track to fulfill her purpose on earth for God. Her conversation with the old man had opened her eyes to what was really going on. She was off track in the race of her life.

It was just a small drama sketch but it drove the point home. The sad thing about this race against humanity is that it never ends. There is always someone who has a bigger car or house, smarter children, more wealth and so on. It is an endless race. When people die they drop out of the race and everyone else continues. Races ought to end. If it is a God given race, it ends when you stand before Him.

Ironically, God looks at success from a different perspective. Each time we fulfill something He has committed to us, we have climbed higher on God’s success ladder. The houses, cars, careers are not the issue with God. They are things He desires to give us. But His purposes for our lives are very important to Him. Every manufacturer likes his products to serve their full purpose. When customers complain, they are unhappy. So is God. When we fall short of His purpose, He is sad. It breaks His heart.

If we want to please God, we must chase after the plans He has for us. The only thing we must race after are His plans for our lives. They must not overtake us or be out of our reach. He has made available to us all the tools we require to deliver on His purpose for our lives. We have the Bible, His Word as well as His Spirit to lead, guide and empower us.

We must not indulge the sin nature which glories in this contest with ourselves. Our flesh likes to feel higher, bigger, better than the other person but that is where it ends. The good feeling is short lived the moment the other person catches up or moves higher.

How do we get into this race against one another? We forget the essence of life when we lose sight of God and who He really is. We become distracted by the stuff life throws at us. Before we know it, we’re right in the middle of a mindless and endless race.

On the other hand, finding purpose means knowing and understanding why you were born, why you are here on earth. How does
