Intro.
My name is Helen S Crudup; I am a writer and a small business owner. I was raised San Jose, Ca. also known as the bay area. I would say I’m what you call a bright individual, very intellectual. Like every other American I have dreams and goals yet to be accomplished. Some of my hobbies are reading, shopping, dancing and occasionally roller skating. I also enjoy listening to good music like R Kelly and many other artists. I’m a Libra, although I’m not really into astrology. My favorite color is green. I’m not conceited but, I’m very gorgeous and I expect the best. I also worked in six hair salons from New York to California. One in Brooklyn, New York which was my aunt’s shop called Hair So Nu. I was only fifth teen when I worked there. I also worked at a few salons in California. Two hair salons in San Jose, two in Oakland, and one in Sacramento, California. I don’t have too many enemies because I’m such a likeable person. I’m so cool I make myself jealous! I love seafood. I appreciate good food and enjoy cooking new and interesting things. I had a very challenging childhood sometimes overbearing but, I came to grow from my experiences and learn impeccable things from them. I didn’t grow up in a single parent home; I had my mom and dad. I guess parenting comes natural even though they’re good and bad ones just like they’re good and bad teachers. It is a true statement that most children are mentally immature throughout school. I can recall doing lots of immature things in my days. When I was in school I allowed teachers to give me bad advice and that was my down fall. My personal opinion would be that all teachers should take a psychiatric test because some of them have psychological problems
. Take a journey with me as I introduce you to my experience with school teachers and how having a counselor didn’t make much of a difference.
I wasn’t exactly a wealthy child but I had nice clothes, toys, food and a home. I wasn’t exactly rolling up in a Bentley either. You may be asking yourself, What is the real reason the majority of poor children and minorities are failing school
. Well do you think it’s possible to let a teacher hinder you from your full potential? I would hope so because it is very possible.
There are situations that I have experienced as a child failing the school system. Unfortunately I went through a few unbelievable trials and tribulations. Some people may find it hard to believe that people can say and do some pathetic things. Times are changing everyday true. The fact remains and a fact will always be a fact. I do believe that the world can change people. It can make you become alone or selfish or maybe greedy. The world can change you to make you realize its beauty and you could be an earthy, environmental person trying to make it healthier. I respect doctors, scientist, firemen and all the people of the world who’s making a difference. Us people have to be taught at a young age to respect life and people so we can all be improved. Children around the world are giving up and not coming to understand how precious a life is. Understand how education is one key to becoming a respectful person of this world today.
If you look at the statistics on high school drop outs the majority of them were black students so, I fell in that category. Students from poor neighborhoods have a high percentage at failing school or dropping out of school as well. Some kids feel they have no hope because they need mentors and counseling. Some students will skip class because they feel overwhelmed from things at home or feeling out of place. Children can feel unwanted and unaccompanied. They may fill ignored by the teacher. Sometimes kids feel more comfortable being where they feel wanted. A teacher can flout around you and avoid speaking to you on a personal level. Tell me how can a child learn in that kind of atmosphere? I know I can’t concentrate on learning if I feel invisible. Heck, I wouldn’t want to. Somewhere down the line teachers seem to have given up. Is it possible that some teachers play a role in this influence? An influence that is larger than it seems. Some teachers teach to the students they think try to learn. Most teachers aren’t concern whether you pass or fail. So if you’re a quiet child and bashful or with similar issues, it may come off as so. The students that want to learn aren’t good enough to be taught if the teacher decides they’re not putting forth the effort. Do not confuse the word effort and do not take it lightly. Effort is mental or physical energy exerted to achieve a purpose. It can also be an attempt to do something. How can you have energy to put forth towards something if it’s being negatively drained? Just because I put forth effort into doing the dishes doesn’t mean I really want to do them.
