    Preface

This collection of poems was written and compiled by me by way of inspiration. It was one of my dreams to do poetry, but over the years I neglected the opportunity. There were lots of things happening around me that I could relate to in a poetic way. Eventually, in late 1996, I realized I had an irresistible zeal to write poetry, so I started.

At first it seemed like too much of a challenge for me, but then I decided that I would go ahead and see how well I could do. It was really an inspiration from God, because when I wrote the titles I chose, I did not have a clue what I was going to write about them.

One thing I will always remember is Phillipians 4:13, which says, I can do all things through Christ, who strengtheneth me. It was hard for me to write the first line of each poem, but as soon as I got the first line then the others just kept coming along.

I was inspired to write both spiritual and contemporary poems. These poems are for affection, guidance and spiritual upliftment. Poetry can be a great form of entertainment and also a way of conveying messages.

I would like them to be my legacy when I am gone, and I hope they will make a difference in many people’s lives.

    E.L. Taylor

    Our Nation

Our Nation consists of God’s marvelous creation of black, white, yellow and brown people. These people represent different cultural backgrounds, with varied personalities and mannerisms.

Some are more fortunate than others and may excel to levels of great success, while the unfortunate ones are hardly making it. People helping each other should be priority and our Nation would be one, with more love and unity. Due to the massive decline of humanitarian practices, the deadly virus of hatred plagues the Nation and causes disorderly conduct. In most places today there is only violence and turmoil.

There is a drastic decline in discipline and good morals, which expose much disrespect and the most awful crimes.
