About this ebook
A Moment With a Counselor tells the story of a woman who found herself on the verge of giving up everything after she caught her husband having an affair. While seeking advice from a local church counselor, she discovered that there was more to her crisis than simply the problems she faced in her marriage. Through several counseling sessions, she gained a different perspective, and looked deeper into the bigger picture of her life to understand God's remedy for divorce. Although she knew that Scripture grants the right to divorce in situations of unfaithfulness, she faced the question: Was divorce really God’s will for her life? Find out what happened in her story.

I want to take the time to recognize God for inspiring me, once again, to come up with another book, A Moment with a Counselor. Initially, I had no intention to write something to help people on the verge of giving up. But after spending enough time talking to different couples and learning about some issues threatening their relationship, I asked God to help me with the words to encourage someone, despite what they were going through. And God put it in my heart to write a scenario demonstrating what it is like to talk with a Biblical counselor and what to expect to achieve when we become obedient to God's word. At the beginning of the process, I did not know where to begin, but God, through His grace, helped me turn my struggle into a reality.
I also want to recognize my wife, Mpessa Kolle Marie Catherine, because of all her continual support and the fact that we worked together playing some roles, so we can see how the application of the word of God can come into play.
We now pray that God may use this scenario to speak life into couples going through their time of test, so they can see at the end that the word of God is true.
Introduction
We have all believed, at some point, that marriage is a beautiful thing. Whether we are getting our feet wet for the first time, reaffirming the relationship we thought we lost, or getting married for the second or third time, we believed we were making the right decision, until we went through a bumpy stage, leading us to question the purpose of marriage. Why did God create the institution of marriage in the first place? And why does He continue to allow couples to get married if they will end up in a divorce? As I was thinking about some people I met and those that I knew who were on the verge of giving up everything or considering a divorce, I prayed God would inspire me to write something to help someone reconsider the purpose of marriage and the possibility to revive what is believed to be lost. Later, with the help of God, I came up with a Moment with A Counselor as a tool to help one perform a self-discovery in the light of the Scriptures to see where the real problems could be. And if a problem was found, what would be the possible options left for that person to choose from to begin either the process of separation or reunion. Sometimes, we must step back and look at ourselves in a mirror to see who we are from the Scripture perspectives and allow God to expose what is inside our hearts to recognize the need for change. Often, whenever we are going through difficult circumstances and we feel under so much pressure, we don’t always know which way to turn or whom to talk to about our problems. Sometimes, we may even say to ourselves, If I open up to someone about my pressing issues, how would people look at me? People would judge me and pretty soon I will start doubting myself on the decisions I made.
While people sometimes may take advantage of the situation to criticize us, it is in our best interest to do what we can to protect our reputation. So, who can we trust with our heart's issues? God’s Representatives, someone who is a counselor. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:11-14, And He (Christ) Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry.
God has appointed specific people to represent Him in all matters. And this is where the counselor comes in as someone appointed by God to assist you in dealing with your personal issues. Although the following story is fiction, it is a possibility that someone may have been through the scenarios you are about to read. In addition, the solutions presented to solve the problems would come from a biblical counselor.
The scene begins where a desperate woman looking to divorce her husband is coming to see a pastor for proper guidelines.
The woman knocked and, as the pastor opened the door, he introduced himself.
Greeting Ma’am, I am Pastor Mike, and I am a counselor at the Kempton Calvary Church. What brings you to my office?
