Leaving the Past Behind: Moving Forward for God
()
About this ebook
This book is for women who are struggling to put their past behind them, women who could relate to and begin living for God, women who, like me, are struggling with guilt and shame over things they did and said that could never be taken back and wouldnt be forgotten. I fervently prayed, Lord, give me the wisdom and words I need to help others. When Jesus promised the disciples that the Father would send a counselor to be with those who loved him, he said, But the Counselor the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you (John 14:26 NIV). Praise God that I have the Holy Spirit to counsel me and give me the words that he would have me share with others.

Preface
When I felt led by the Holy Spirit to write this piece, I grappled with just how to go about doing it. I knew it shouldn’t be a tell-all, but I wanted to write it in a form that other women who are struggling to put their past behind them could relate to and begin living for God. Women like me. Women who in the past meandered through their young lives doing what felt good, living life with abandon. Women struggling with guilt and shame over things they did and said that could never be taken back and wouldn’t be forgotten. I fervently prayed, Dear Lord, give me the wisdom and words I need to help others.
When Jesus promised the disciples that the Father would send a Counselor to be with those who loved Him, he said: But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you
(John 14:26, NIV). Praise God that I have the Holy Spirit to counsel me and give me the words that He would have me share with others.
Dearest friend, are you living under the mistaken belief that you can’t be forgiven for things you’ve done? Do you throw your hands up in exasperation every time someone brings up the shameful things in your past? Do you watch in horror while your children make the same kinds of mistakes you made, knowing that they learned them from you? Do you live in fear that new friends will discover your sordid past and hate you for it?
