This book is lovingly dedicated to my grandson, R.G., (ROBERT GLYNN GRAY, III), who’s life and courage have been an example of strength to me. His bright eyes and happy smile help me keep my chin up and a smile on my face. Both R.G. and I can truly say, JOY DOES COME IN THE MORNING!

    I love you, R.G.

    FOREWORD

On June 25, 2010, Lee Ann and I will celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. It has been said that you know best those with whom you live. Therefore, I have the utmost respect for this dear lady with whom God has allowed me the wonderful privilege of sharing my life. If I had one person and one person only who I could ask to pray for me it would be Lee Ann Gray. Her health has resulted in her being homebound, but she still has a marvelous wit and ability to counsel pastor’s wives and those with health issues. Please read this book with an open mind and heart. I believe it will tug at your heart and at your mind all at the same time.

    INTRODUCTION

I am not quite sure how many years it has been since I first heard the song "JOY COMES IN THE MORNING," but something about the words and melody of that song captured my complete mind, heart, and attention. That has remained so throughout the many years which have passed since first hearing the song. I have been blessed to see the LORD so wonderfully and beautifully unfold my life. Even though there have been times when the valleys were deep and dark, days which seemed endless, periods when the heavens were brass to me, and times I had to reach up just to touch bottom, the LORD has always come through. (By the way, I still have days like that at times, so just hang in there.)

My purpose in putting part of my life on paper once again (boy, that is scary!) is to encourage and to help those who have faced, are facing, or will facing some of the problems I have faced with my health. Having bad health and living in a body that is constantly changing, constantly deteriorating, and in constant pain each day affects not only the body, it also affects the mind, the emotions, and our outlook and attitude toward life. It also filters down to family, friends, church family, neighbors, and those we work with and live around.

I, by no means, have all the answers, but I have had a lot of experience. I know what will work and what will not work. As Christians, we allow Satan too much leeway in our lives and give him too much help and credit. Think about it. Satan is a pedestrian. He is captured wandering to and fro, seeking whom he may devour. He cannot read our minds, but he can read our actions and re-actions. So, my goal is to give you some new and improved actions and re-actions! I pray that this book will be an encouragement and a help to you as you read each page.

ALSO, IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE THAT IF YOU DIED TODAY YOU WOULD GO TO HEAVEN, PLEASE STOP NOW AND GET THAT SETTLED ONCE AND FOR ALL!

    God bless you.

    Mrs. Gray
