The Magic Glasses
Zoe stared wide-eyed at the mysterious golden parcel. She hadn’t been expecting anything and it wasn’t her birthday or Christmas just yet. Wondering what on Earth could be inside, she shook it, but it made no sound. Eagerly, Zoe tore open the package and gasped in delight as she pulled out a pair of the shiniest red glasses she had ever seen! She put them on and blinked in disbelief. The room seemed to become brighter and began filling with a strange, silvery mist. How very odd.
Then she had another surprise when she noticed something glinting in the corner of the room beneath an armchair. She rushed across the room, crawled under the chair and smiled in delight as she grabbed the glinting object. It was the magic rainbow stone! There was no mistaking it - smooth like a pebble and as clear as glass with a beautiful sparkling rainbow inside!
Brimming with excitement, Zoe raced upstairs, her long black dreadlocks bouncing behind her. She dashed into her room and placed the stone down on her bedside cabinet. Grinning gleefully, she removed her glasses to admire the stone, but it vanished. She put on the glasses again and there it was! If she could only see the stone when she was wearing them they must surely be magic glasses. How very exciting!
When half-past nine came, Zoe settled down in her soft, comfy bed and fell asleep. The moment she did so, the stone began to glow, projecting its rainbow onto the ceiling, as sparkling magic poured out and filled the room.
In her sleep, Zoe could see the image of the beautiful rainbow, but it had grown, forming a dazzling rainbow arch. She stepped through it and found herself in The Crystal World - a magical place where everything sparkled. She was standing beneath a big, old, golden tree with yellow jewels hanging from its branches. Then she noticed a happy figure skipping towards her. It was a handsome, young, blue crystal boy with short, black knotty dreadlocks. It was her friend Sapphire!
Hi Zoe!
he said, as the pair high-fived. I’m so excited to see you!
I’m excited to see you too!
Zoe said. I’m so thrilled to be here.
We’re going to see Quartz the wizard,
Sapphire said. He’s had some precious items stolen.
Zoe frowned. That’s horrible for him. I do hope we can help.
I’m sure we can,
said Sapphire with a grin. "Ready
