About this ebook

The (fictitious) quiet town of Udaddle, North Carolina is situated in the hills just 15 miles North of Western Mountains, NC. When Mystic, Penny and Zion were young, the population was approximately 135 people. It is in this sleepy little town where two ten year olds, Mystic and Punkin found the buried treasure of a lifetime. Zion Box entered into their lives and all hell broke loose. As the three of them grew into adulthood, this hidden treasure and the mystical powers that Mystic already had, would forever change their lives and the city of Udaddle, North Carolina.

The gift of the occult along with this buried treasure set the course of these three lives on two different paths. For two of them, this turn of events would bring tremedous wealth and untold misfortune. For the other the adventure would be simplier and happier, but their dramatic end will be the same.

    preface

Years ago in the quiet town of Udaddle, North Carolina, two ten year olds, Mystic and Penelope (Penny) found the buried treasure of a lifetime. The discovered treasure and their new little friend Zion Box, along with the mystical powers that Mystic Winslow already possessed would forever change her life and the sleepy town of Udaddle. As Mystic, Zion and Penny grew into adulthood, so also did their destruction.

Finding Zion turned their lives upside down. Life would take them from the Udaddle to the West coast to the East coast and back in search of love, happiness, success and each other. Will the mystically hellish, wild ride be worth the adventure?

Mystic and Penny made their way through the wooded property of Mr. Jeffery Sneed until the thumping sounds stopped. At that exact spot, Mystic set down her duffle bag and reached for the shovel that Penny had been carrying. Within no time the dirt gave way to reveal the opening of a sinkhole. In nervous excitement, Mystic got the rope from her bag and trusted Penny to lower her down. Long minutes passed before Penny could stand it no longer.

Hey Mystic, what are you finding down there?

I’m not finding much of anything as of yet, Penny. You just be the look out, okay.

You had better hurry up. I'm sick of you getting us in trouble all the time. My butt is still sore from the last whipping.

You are such a scaredy-cat. I always have to make your fun for you. You can't stay in the house all the time, Penny.

Your idea of fun always leads to trouble, so stop playing around down there so we can get out of these woods.

Shut-up and pay attention, before Old man Sneed catch our black butts on his property again.

I’ll pay attention, but it’s dark up here in these woods. Penny looks around the deserted property to see if anyone was coming up behind her. Every tree and bush looked like a lurking monster.

Well I was the only one of us bold enough to climb down in this dark sinkhole. Besides, this sorry ole flashlight is about as much help as you are. Wow! Penny I see something. This sinkhole is a lot deeper than it looked from up top. It’s about the size of a living room! There is a bunch of room in here and it’s all filled with loot. The dirt fell on top of a bunch of stuff, but I still see glittering gold. Move back some girl from the mouth of the sinkhole, so the moonlight can shine down. Oh boy Penny, you are not gonna believe your eyes when you see this stuff. I told you there was buried treasure down here.

As Mystic brushed her palm against the walls of the sinkhole, it was both smooth and cool to her touch. It smells like pure dirt down here.

And what does pure dirt smell like? And anyway, stop feeling-up the walls and brush your palms against this rope so I can pull you up.

Mystic kept exploring the sinkhole in spite of Penny’s protest. I can't see a thing with this sorry flashlight and your scary self blocking the moonlight. How on earth can such a lil' girl cast so big of a shadow? There was complete silence. Penny? Oh shoot. Please be Penny standing up there.

Mystic started to panic. Flashlight please don’t…. She slowly turns from impending doom as the flashlight dies out. Staring up in the direction of the lost moonlight, Mystic spoke to the shadow. Who the heck are you and where is my cousin? The shadow leans down closer to the hole.

That darkie you are yelling for has run off and left you, Little Miss Missy. As fear welled up in Mystic’s throat, she realizes that Ole man Sneed has caught her again.

    Sons of Sceva.

Girl, what are you doing on my property? Are you bothering with my stuff in that sinkhole? Haven’t I told you what I’ll do if I caught you again?

    Yes sir, you did.

    Maybe you have hearing problems?

No Mr. Sneed, I can hear just fine. It is the behaving that I have a problem it.

Well, I'll show you better than I can tell you. I should bury you alive, but I am a man of my word. I’ll do exactly what I said I'd do. A good, old fashion skinning is what you gonna get! Seeing as how you are down in this sinkhole, you'll sit right perfect till I get back with my tools. I'll skin you so good your mama won't know you.
