They try to fight off Malkin York, but lose the battle while part of Veggie’s house is burned in a bad lightning storm.

The school placed a lock on the Middle Room door and warns students that anyone discussing the Middle Room will be punished.

Only the principal has the key to the Middle Room.

Part 1

Christmas vacation arrived! No school for two weeks!

This was the halfway point of the school year. Mystic wondered how she would endure the rest of sixth grade, then seventh and eighth. It wouldn’t be so bad if she could ignore the powers of the Middle Room.

That was impossible, since Mystic now believed.

Several times over the last few months she changed the weather. Granted, it didn’t happen exactly when she thought about it. Even so the weather did eventually change.

One time she thought about an earthquake. The next day, California had an earthquake. Next she thought about a hurricane. Mexico was hit by an unseasonable hurricane a week later.

As for her other power of locating items, she was able to find her mother’s car keys several times. Mystic found her father’s screwdriver when he lost it. Anyone at school who misplaced something, Mystic seemed to know where it was.

The villain of a broken heart stuck around each day. Mystic wasn’t sad or upset. Just once in a while her heart felt like it shattered.

Five days before Christmas, Mystic discovered why her heart kept breaking.

It was because of her affection for Spark.

He was cute. Talented. Funny. And most of all, Spark ran back inside a burning house to save her.
