I was a little more than concerned with the title being what it is. However it was a wonderful story with a few twists, at the end it was heartwarming and finished on a high note.

CHAPTER 1 – THE EVIL TRIO

Doctor the patient seems to be losing consciousness Gaurav heard a nurse’s voice. He and his family watched through the glass doors as the doctors tried to save his wife, Divya’s, life.

Gaurav, and his parents, Narayana Rao and Padmavathi, watched with a cruel smile while Priya his sister looked on sadly. Gaurav was 28 years old and worked as a Civil Engineer in a Government Department. His father was a retired senior Bureaucrat while mother was a housewife, Priya was 22 years old, who was like a female replica of Gaurav, on the other hand was unemployed and lazy. She was still unmarried and the reason of anxiousness for her parents. She was a secret transsexual who wanted to be a man but out of fear of societal harassment she didn’t let anyone one. She had short hair and never wore feminine clothes.

Divya was 18 years old. Her family consisted of her grandfather – Vishwanath Rao, grandmother – Gayatri Devi, mother – Ramya. Ramya was a single mother who was 33 years old had got pregnant with Divya at the age of 15. But brought up her daughter alone as the father had shied away from his responsibility. Ramya helped her father in turning the jewellery shop that they owned into one of the biggest in the city. This was one reason why Vishwanath and family had agreed to Gaurav’s alliance although there was a 10 year age difference between them and Divya has just completed 18 years. They didn’t want to lose a good alliance due to Ramya’s past.

Divya did her best to win over her in-laws. Gaurav and his parents were just greedy for Divya’s assets and fortune. Padma also looked down on Ramya on being an unwed mother and always taunted her with acerbic comments. Ramya bit her lips and suppressed her pride due to Divya. Padma always mentally harassed Divya to bring more money from her mother. Gaurav too harassed Divya to get money from her mother so that he can pay off his gambling debts and start a new business. But Divya knew gaurav was not capable of that and would blow the money on horse races and bettings. But at the same time Divya didn’t let her mother and grandparents know about her miserable life as she felt they would get hurt.

Knowing this Gaurav and his parents brazenly took advantage and harassed Divya more. Priya used to be vocal against her parents but they would brush her off easily.

**************************************************

After six months the trio realised that they cannot get any money out of Divya. They were enraged and schemed to kill Divya so that all the properties on her name would automatically go to Gaurav as he was Divya’s husband. So they plotted had Divya’s car brakes failed and asked her to get a few groceries from the local store. Divya met with a horrible accident.

***************************************************

Gaurav, your wife, Divya, is alive but she is in a vegetative state and the hope of her recovering is diminishing day by day. If she doesn’t regain consciousness in the next few days then she is as good as dead the doctor informed Gaurav who acted like he was shell-shocked.

Doctor, please do something. I cannot live without her Gaurav faked being sad. The doctor just looked on sympathetically.

I am sorry Gaurav. Divya has suffered severe injury to the head resulting in a brain haemorrhage. All we can do is pray for her recovery as its medically impossible to do anything said they doctor as Divya’s family members were devastated.

***************************************************

Over the next few days Divya’s family conducted all kinds of puja’s and yagna’s but all in vain as Divya still didn’t open her eyes. The doctors gave up hope. In fact Divya’s mother suggested Gaurav to accept reality and take her out of the ordeal and donate her organs so that she can live through somebody else. But Vishwanath didn’t agree and asked Ramya to wait a few more days.

*********************************************************

A month passed but there were still no signs of Divya’s recovery. There was pressure mounting from the hospital to make a decision.

At this time Ramya was told by a friend about a Swamiji whose ashram was in outskirts of the city who had rescued many people from the jaws of death. She felt like catching hold of a log while drowning. Ramya, Vishwnath and Gayatri went to meet the Swami. But unfortunately there was a huge crowd at the ashram everyday due to hundreds of people thronging the place to put their agonies at Swamiji’s feet. For two days they tried in vain to gain access.

Finally they got their chance on the third day. They sat nervously in a room waiting for the Swami’s arrival. In a few minutes the Swami arrived in the room. As soon as they saw him they stood up and greeted him with folded hands. Swami Athmathirtha was a man in his early 80’s but still has long jet black hair. He looked like he was in his 40’s. He was well over 6 ft in height and had a vibrant glow in his face. Anybody who saw him could relate piety with him. They somehow felt a sense of believability on him.

CHAPTER TWO – THE LAST RESORT

The swami sat down on a mat. Ramya and the others to sat down on the floor instead of the chairs. Vishwanath was about to tell something when he stopped him by holding his hand up.

Do you want your daughter to fully recover and become normal? asked Swamiji looking at Ramya straight in the eye. All three were taken aback on hearing that.

Yes Swami, please help us Ramya pleaded with tears in her eyes.

Good then. What will you do to save your daughter? he asked calmly.

I will do anything. I am ready to give my life Ramya said as her voice choked.

The Swamiji nodded and closed his eyes as they looked on eagerly as to what he will say.

"There is a way by which your daughter
