ALTERNATE REALITY

This story is about 2 individuals who could not bond due to their opposite upbringing. They love each other but can stay together due to their clash in lifestyle. Let us meet one of them first.

Mohammad Salim Khan is a 19 year old medical student living in Hyderabad. He comes from an orthodox muslim family. He prays 5 times a day. His father muezzim (the chosen person at a mosque who leads and recites the call to prayer) at a local mosque. Mother a housewife. He has three elder sisters who are yet to be married. He has the responsibility of getting them married. Since he grew up in a orthodox family his views are also orthodox. He believes women sgould stay at home. Wear a burqa with a naqaab when they go out. He is engaged to Nadira and about to be married in 2 days.

Now let’s see whom he is marrying. Nadira Mirza is all of 18 years old. She is a free spirit. Her family is what they are called as Liberal Muslims. She has a younger brother but both are treated equally. Her Dad is a football coach at a local school while mother is an advocate and social activist. She wanted to be singer and was trained in classical music since a young age. She had an elder brother who died as an infant.

Both their grandfather’s had made a promise a few decade back that they will get their grandchildren married. Since nadira’s grandmother was ill she was absolutely adamant that nadira and Salim get married as soon as possible. So there marriage was fixed in a haste.
