THE ROSE BUSH
One day there was a lady who had purchased a rose bush. Her goal was to use the roses from the bush in a floral arrangement for her daughter’s wedding. She located the perfect spot in her back yard for the bush and smiled with excitement at the thought of it blooming. She dug the hole, watered it, and then placed the bush into the ground.
Initially, everything seemed fine; the leaves were healthy and green. It appeared as though the roots had caught on and the bush was on its way to eventually produce some roses. One day the lady went out to check on the bush. She was devastated! It seemed as if the bush was dying. She became nervous and panicked because of the special occasion the roses were for. To make matters worse, the event was only two weeks away. Unfortunately, the rose bush died. She couldn’t figure out why because she watered it daily and made sure that the ground was clear of any weeds. She realized that she had to dig the bush up.
As she kneeled down to pluck the bush, she began to weep. Her next door neighbor heard her weeping and asked, what was wrong? She told him through her tears that she was planning on using the roses from the bush for a special a floral arraignment for her daughter’s wedding and that she no longer could because her rose bush had died. The lady did not know that her neighbor was an avid gardener and that roses were his specialty. He came over and inspected her rose bush. He looked at the soil, then looked

she said no. Did you test the PH balance of the soil before you planted the bush,
she said, no.
He told her that measuring the PH level of the soil and adding organic matter or manure encourages healthy growth of the rose bush. If the PH balance is off, making the soil too sour
