FOREWORD

At the end of the previous book, I stated that Volume 3 was likely the end of the series. As you can see from Volume 4 here, I was wrong about that. I believed at the time I had reached the end of the characters' narrative journey, at least as far as fantasy erotica tales go.

But this has been a series that is a lot less about high adventure than it is slice-of-life set on a sci-fi fantasy world. And slice-of-life is all about the small incidents that make up daily life. So it eventually dawned on me that the way forward here would not so much be in big unified plots, but in smaller stories encapsulating the various characters' fun sexual adventures as they go about their usual work and play.

If there is enough interest, and if I can put together enough decent ideas, there might be more volumes in the series following this type of format. Let me know what you as readers think!

PROLOGUE

In the late 1970s, the United States tested an esoteric theory about the creation of kugelblitzes. A kugelblitz is a black hole created solely by concentrating vast amounts of energy into a single tiny pinpoint. Using carefully customized and synchronized atomic weapons in an underground test, the scientists sought to create a short-lived black hole that would, in theory, evaporate away within milliseconds.

Instead, in the crater of ground zero in the smoking aftermath, floated a strange mirrored globe ten feet wide.

It took the scientists many days of panic, tests, arguing, scanning, and recalibrating sixty years’ worth of quantum theory to realize that they had accidentally created a stable wormhole. One that led, they soon learned, to a parallel Earth in another dimension.

Later that year, the experiment was repeated, with similar results. Another wormhole, and another alternate world opened up to humanity. Then another and another, as the United States, and later its allies and its rivals, refined the techniques for accessing these other realities.

The near-identical copies of modern day Earth as imagined in science fiction never materialized, however. These new worlds, while still recognizably Earth, had radically different histories from the one humanity experienced, some diverging thousands or even millions of years ago.

One boasted a completely new orders of life such as shapeshifters and dragons. One never developed multicellular life and featured barren continents surrounded by thick, goopy oceans. Yet another was a glacier-choked wilderness, the victim of an ice age that never ended.

By the turn of the millennium, the existence of these parallel worlds was finally declassified to the public at large. The leading nations had by then learned to create wormhole portals with particle accelerators instead of messy nuclear weapons, and many countries leased the technology to create portals of their own.

One of the earliest alternate Earths discovered did have humans living on it... once. In this reality’s version of history, an ancient civilization called the Makers of Form had discovered the principles of genetic engineering and biotechnology thousands of years earlier than modern Earth. They had also discovered the many extinct life forms such as dinosaurs and megafauna, and had recreated them over large swathes of both the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. The Makers had even created several sub-races of human-dinosaur hybrids that had survived their apocalyptic Plague War a thousand years before. The Makers of Form themselves had not been so lucky.

This Earth of genetically-engineered Saurian people was considered one of the most potentially profitable and several portals were opened up to it. Some of the Saurians, also profit-minded, created businesses to take advantage of the influx of these strange new humans.

One of these was Niska’s Bed and Breakfast Inn, built from the ruins of an ancient stone lighthouse.

BIRTHDAY TREAT

(This story takes place between Books 2 and 3)

The plump Triceratops woman tugged at the arm of the tall Apatosaur male. They were both red-faced; her from generous amounts of alcohol, and he from bashfulness. Aw, come on, Anaika said. Don't you want your birthday surprise?

Ylan topped more than eight and a half feet in height, six inches taller than his already huge mother Niska. Like all Apatosaur hybrids, he boasted a rounded head with vaguely reptilian features, a blend of mostly human genetics and certain select dinosaur traits. A long tapering tail peaked out of the backside of his leggings, with his muscular torso wrapped in a loose tan shift. His scales were dark green in color with a number of mahogany stripes along his back and arms. Anaika, I appreciate this, but should we really be on the upper floors so late at night? My mother might...

Oh, don't worry about Niska, the older woman said. At thirty-three, Anaika was a dozen years Ylan's senior, a Triceratops hybrid boasting the horns and bony crest of that ancient saurian species. Her mouth sported a small hooked beak at the end of her short muzzle. Long twin horns sprouted from just above her big intelligent eyes. Another, smaller horn poked up from the end of her snout. Her scales were a rusty orange with brown stripes. She noticed that the young male's eyes kept dropping down to the generous cleavage showing through the top of her shift. Your mother had enough brandy that I don't think she's going to be climbing a whole bunch of ramps any time soon. Besides, if I gave you this treat around the others, we would have to share. And you deserve something special for coming all the way to the Inn in the middle of winter just to visit.
