美雨は猫であり、ボーンチャイナの陶芸家でもある。美しい磁器を作るために、美雨はいかがわしい仕業で怪しげな素材を仕入れる。チュラはたまたま来日した難民キャンプのNPOボランティアであり、蛙でもある。美雨が錯乱状態を克服する手助けができるのはチュラだけだ。一方、ネズミの大群はよからぬことを企んでいて、相反する利害関係の争いは直に始まる。ネズミ団の親分は美雨の心を解く鍵を握っているが、戦うことなくそれを譲るつもりはないだろう。

Mew is a cat and a bone china artisan. She makes beautiful china with suspicious materials using questionable methods. Chura is an NPO volunteer and a frog of a refugee camp who happened to come to Japan. He is the only one who can help Mew overcome her psychotic illness. Meanwhile, hordes of rats are plotting shady things, and a battle of conflicting interests ensues. The leader of the rats holds the key to Mew's sanity but won't give it up without a fight.

EXT. A PUBLIC PARK - 7 PM

灰色のトラ猫はとある池に近寄って、蛙に声をかける。蛙は体色が灰緑色のアフリカウシガエルだ。

A gray tabby CAT approaches a pond and calls out to FROG. Frog is a grayish green African bullfrog.

猫

こんばんは、蛙さん。

CAT

Good evening, frog.

蛙

ん？この暗闇で俺の気配に良く気付いたな。

FROG

Mm? Impressive. You saw me in pitch dark.

猫

当然でしょう。猫たるもの、視力が悪くてどうしますか。…ところで、ワタクシのことは怖くありませんか。

CAT

Naturally. Someone of a cat’s stature can’t have poor eyesight. Do you not fear me, frog?

蛙

別に。君の足音は遠くから聞こえてたし。敬語でしゃべる猫なんか怖くねえよ。

FROG

Not really. I could hear your footsteps a mile away. Am I supposed to be scared of cats who speak in honorifics?

猫

なら、一つ教えてさしあげましょうか。世の中には敬語を使うごろつきがたくさんいるんですよ。

CAT

Then I’ll teach you something good. There are lots of thugs out there who speak like me.

猫は爪を出す。

Cat flashes her claws.

猫

この爪は血を見たことがあります。

CAT

These claws have tasted blood.

蛙

奇遇だな。こいつもそうだよ。

FROG

What a coincidence. So has my friend here.

蛙は「く」形の刀を抜き出して見せる。

Frog draws a sword shaped like a boomerang for Cat to see.

蛙

やるか？

FROG

You wanna go?

猫が爪を引っこめると、蛙は刀を鞘に収める。

As Cat retracts her claws, Frog sheathes his sword.

猫

結構です。あなたの根性を認めましょう。ワタクシは「美雨」と申します。「美しい」のミに、「雨」のウです。以後、お見知りおきを。

CAT

Very well. I shall acknowledge your courage. I’m Mew. That’s /mi/ as in beauty, and /u/ as in rain. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

蛙

俺はチュラだ。スワヒリ語でカエルって意味だよ。よろしく。じゃ、自己紹介も済んだところで、その演技やめたら？

FROG

I’m Chura, which means Frog in Swahili. Charmed. So now that that’s over, why don’t you drop the charade?

猫

…バレてたのね。私の悪党演技がヘタだった？

CAT

Is the cat out of the bag already? Was my bad guy act that obvious?

蛙

ヘタ。演技が場に不釣り合いだった理由は三つあった。一つ、悪党は一人ぼっちの相手に「こんばんは」とは言わない。二つ、本物の悪党は自分のことを「ごろづき」とは呼ばない。三つ、奇襲攻撃をかけてこなかった君は、多分野良猫じゃなくて飼い猫だろ。違うか？
