Chapter 1
Introduction
Happiness is an innate intelligence that resonates in all of us. It’s a right to entitlement for every individual. Happiness isn’t privy to age, gender, race, religion or situation. Happiness is an internal flow that you can ride in the moment or embrace as a lifestyle. Either way, happiness is a choice that happens in an instant and can last a lifetime.
Happiness has always been subjective, personal and private. Now, it’s screaming out loud for attention. After four decades of aggressively toiling, building and ‘progressing’, it seems that many are experiencing the material and the money but not necessarily the happy that was expected to go with it. Once upon a time we could take happiness for granted. Now, to get happy you may have to focus on happy if you have any hope of experiencing it.
Happiness is good for your health, your relationships and your spirit. It’s a natural source of strength, power and longevity. It doesn’t matter if you’ve had crappy caregivers, friends, bosses, acquaintances or experiences - anybody can choose to be happy. If you love with passion, you will hurt with passion. If you’ve endured great suffering, you can experience great joy. Ask the many who have suffered grave adversity and are now living happy.
Every individual is a Chief Happiness Officer (CHO). You are the CHO of your own self. The CHO is the livelihood and happy that resides within you. It’s the happy you are wired to experience. The CHO is a concept we will utilize to relay happiness messages and to promote the happy and the positive!
Luckily, we’ve learned a lot that’s positive over the last few decades. Flow With Your CHO offers a unique blend of basic psychology, metaphysical laws and energies and widely-accepted spirituality concepts. It aligns the spirit of the individual with the realities of our environment. Flow With Your CHO takes advantage of what we know to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Flow With Your CHO takes you on an intellectual journey of honesty and self-discovery. It invites you to find your personal happy and to embrace your happiness equilibrium - your Chief Happiness Officer (CHO). It’s a mental space and spa that cleanses and rejuvenates your mind to awaken you to living happy. You wouldn’t expect to get physically fit without exercise so why expect to get mentally fit, or happy, if you’re carrying excess mental baggage?
Your mind is your gateway to sustained peace and happiness. Flow With Your CHO reveals how to transition to a happier mindset, to establish a healthier, happier existence within a hectic, demanding society. Success is no longer the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success - for all generations.
Flow With Your CHO polishes the positive of your character so you can put your best happy, forward. It promotes positive interactions and relations with others to attract the happiest people, situations and opportunities. It guides you in defining what it is that makes you happy and illustrates how to optimize positive energies, thoughts and emotions, to build a happy life foundation.
To further assist you in your journey, Flow With Your CHO is proud to share an inventory of happy suggestions and solutions to keep your CHO grounded and balanced.
Flow With Your CHO is for individuals who are happy and want to get happier, and for those who are living sad amongst the masses. It’s for those who have daily gratitude and appreciation for all they have but secretly live scared or mysteriously feel a sense of void, emptiness or disappointment. It’s for the individual who feels overwhelmed from the daily grind and struggle. And, it’s for all those who care about the future health and wellness of our nation.
Happiness is a personal expression. It’s a gift for each and every one of us. You just have to choose this cherished asset. You are designed to love, laugh and live happy so why settle for just those rare fleeting moments? Best of all, happiness is magnetic, contagious and effective. Are you ready to embrace your Chief Happiness Officer?
Chapter 2
Choose Happy
What Is GNH?
The term Gross National Happiness (GNH) was initially formed by the fourth King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. During Bhutan’s admission to the United Nations in 1971, the King relayed the importance of prosperity and happiness. He announced his intention to holistically measure economic progress and sustainable development.
In the late 1980s, Jigme Singye Wangchuck declared GNH and social welfare as Bhutan’s priority over the accumulation of economic wealth. It was the first country to factor happiness within it’s Gross National Product (GNP) model.
The studies and effects of happiness have gained greater appeal over the last decade. Governments, economists and scientists seem eager to objectively measure and justify happiness as a credible component when factoring a nation’s GNP. This proactive positive is a challenge when it comes to being tangibly measured in global arenas, perspectives, formulas and equations.
Happiness is a motivator that keeps us mentally fit and active. It’s a proprietary asset that’s productive and value-added. Happiness empowers individuals and nations. It’s beautiful, free and plentiful. It’s logical that happiness would contribute to the economic progress and sustainability of a nation.
Why Happiness?
There are several reasons why happiness may be attracting global attention:
After four decades of rapid financial and material progress, there has been minimal gain in the overall happiness of the people. People are choosing to redefine personal priorities. We’ve worked hard to build our wealth. It only makes sense to stop and relish in it.
People are realizing that money and stuff are subject to the Laws of Diminishing Returns and can only buy temporary satisfaction. How will a lack of satisfaction collectively affect a nation’s spending?
A large portion of the work population is rapidly retiring, being replaced by a smaller group of new thinkers in a world with more industries and more entrepreneurs. How will a reduction in working incomes affect the country’s economy? Is the government capable of meeting its promise to provide financial assistance to the Baby Boomers in their retirement years?
As over-achievers and creatures of habit, will the Baby Boomers face significant mental challenges as they transition to retirement? How will those changes further impede a medical system that’s already heavily burdened?
The staggering increase in illnesses and disease in all generations is severely straining the medical system.
Our Gross National Product…counts air pollution and ambulances to clear our highways of carnage…It counts the destruction of the redwood and the loss of our natural wonder in chaotic sprawl…Yet the gross national product does not allow for the health of our children…or the joy of their play. It does not
