About this ebook

The book titled L-Glutathione-Science, Production and Benefits talks about the value of this Super Anti-Oxidant and explains in detail about its composition, highest concentrations in the body, its role as an anti-oxidant, crucial functions it performs, its optimum ratios in the body, the impact of its deficiency, the diseases it helps in preventing and curing and finally, its efficacy in the form of a supplement.
Being detailed but easily understandable, this book will be an extremely helpful source to people looking for information regarding this anti-oxidant and primary cell defender of the body. It is written in a structured manner where it starts off with the basics and gradually delves into the detailed mechanisms of how glutathione works.

When you read the book, you will get to know about the composite amino acids that make up Glutathione and the role of each amino acid in imparting this anti-oxidant and it's central properties. Afterwards, you will be given an account of what oxidation is, how it releases dangerous free radicals in the body and how Glutathione carries out the reverse process of anti-oxidation. Problems such as Oxidative Stress, Heavy Metal Toxicity, Hindrance in DNA Repair and Cell Alteration are just some of the problems that Glutathione protects against if produced in the optimum quantities in the body.

    What is L-Glutathione?

    L-Glutathione, primarily an intracellular anti-oxidant protein, is found abundantly in the human body inside the cells. Out of all the cells of the human organs, the highest quantities of the protein are found inside the liver. It is produced by the body in large quantities in order to protect it from a number of certain inevitable dangers such as pollution, cigarette smoke, passive smoking and various other daily health hazards. It also facilitates certain crucial processes such as tissue rebuilding and playing down the persistent side effects of chemotherapy of cancer patients among others.

    Structurally, it falls under the category of Tripeptide; composed of three basic amino acids including the L-Clycine, L-Cysteine and Glutamic acid. Tripeptides are proteins that have three amino acid groups chained together by means of molecular bonds. Generally, the nature of the bonding is such that the carboxyl group of one acid is bonded with the amino group of the other releasing a molecule of water (H2O).

    In order to shed light on the natural production and major benefits of, it’s vital that we understand the building blocks (amino acids) of this extremely important protein and the basic function of an anti-oxidant.

    What Are Amino Acids?

    In the simplest of terms, amino acids are organic compounds that contain two main chemical groups; one is a carboxyl group having the formula of -COOH, while the other is an amino group having formula -NH2. Depending upon the specific type of amino acid, the side chain attached with the basic groups may vary. But carboxyl and amino groups remain consistent. In order to dig deeper into what gives L-Glutathione its acidic properties, it’s imperative to look into the structure of these two chemical groups that constitute the amino acids forming Glutathione.

    The carboxyl group, -COOH, structurally is further composed of carbonyl and hydroxyl groups. Carbonyl group has one carbon attached to the oxygen by way of a double bond. Whereas the hydroxyl group has the oxygen attached to the hydrogen atom. Since the hydrogen is not bonded to the molecule by a considerably strong bond and there is only a single atom of it, the carboxyl groups have the tendency of releasing this hydrogen atom developing a net negative charge;
