    HOW THE 30-DAY SPARKLE PLAN STARTED

    It all started a couple of years ago when everything in my life went mad...

    To explain, I’m a writer. My day job involves all kinds of writing, from car brochures and web sites to video scripts and articles. I also write fiction and my first novel, book one in The Blue Crystal Trilogy, came out in March 2014.

    Great, said my publisher, a week after publication. How quickly can you write book two? Can you do it in three months?

    It’s a tall order, but do-able, I replied, thinking I could put my commercial work to one side.

    That didn’t happen. My commercial work went into overdrive and I found myself working all hours. After four months of working 15 hours a day, opting out of family life and ignoring TV, I eventually finished book two. Stress levels were high, I had bad eye-strain and severe headaches. But I’d done it. I sent it to the publisher, who promptly rejected it.

    Too repetitive and not exciting enough. Needs a complete re-write.

    I cried for a week, picked myself up and decided may be he was right. I’d written it under pressure. I needed to regroup and refocus.

    Over the next three months I re-wrote the book, while battling mountains of commercial work. Once again, family life suffered and so did my health. The headaches continued, I developed scaly red eczema around my eyes and on my neck, and my irritable bowel flared up. I also experienced lumbar pain. I was permanently exhausted, cried easily and felt dreadful. But guess what? The publisher liked it and book two was published in early 2015.

    So it was worth it.

    Or was it? I took a long look in the mirror and didn’t like what I saw. I looked saggy, baggy, puffy-eyed and old. My skin was pasty, my hair lank and my eyes bloodshot. I wasn’t so much overweight as out of condition and I’d somehow developed a hanging stomach.

    Too many late nights at my computer had taken their toll, sucking up my vitality and sense of humour. My hips ached. I was intense, neurotic and permanently tired. I had frequent arguments with my husband and was an absent parent for my teenage daughter.

    It’s taken a while to turn it into a book because I had to write book three of the trilogy first. But, at last, here it is. A book dedicated to all those who feel they’ve lost their sparkle and want to regain their razzle dazzle. It worked for me and I hope it helps you!

    Before I tell you what the Sparkle Plan is, perhaps I should tell you what it’s not...

    It’s not an online life-coaching plan. It’s not a fad diet or a quick fix. It’s not a miracle-worker and it can’t achieve the impossible.

    What it does do is establish healthy patterns and focus on what is achievable for you. It’s a mind, spirit and body cleansing plan that’s built around common sense and feeling good. It gives you the building blocks to transform your life and provides the foundation for a new you.

    Note I use the words ‘built’ and ‘building’. That’s key to the success of the plan. Throughout, I’ve used the analogy of building a house - because that’s what we’re doing. We’re taking a tired old house and rebuilding it from the foundations up, turning it into a fabulous new showhome. If you can keep this in your head as you move through the plan, it will help a lot. The Sparkle Plan is not about achieving overnight results, it’s about building up one brick
