The Billionaire Takes a Holiday Part 1 - Erica Storm

    Chapter 1: Bradley

Since my father died, I’m working my butt off here trying to straighten out this mess Jack left the company in for too long. He hasn’t done shit to prevent this company from going under. It’s his job, where is he anyway? I said to my father’s secretary Elizabeth who sat calmly in a chair facing me with a pad and a pencil.

I had been trying to convince Elizabeth to use her computer and IPad to make her life, and my life easier, but she protested saying it would make it more difficult for her since she’s not computer literate and wasn’t planning on using one in the near future. She had said, I just figured out how to use this phone you gave me, and I’m not doing any more.

I need a secretary, not one when dinosaurs ruled. But she won’t retire and I don’t have the heart to make her.

Mr. Kingsbridge, Jack is out to lunch. My hand is placed on my chin and I’m far away on an island somewhere with my feet up and pants down... Her motherly voice jars me back to reality, ruining my carnal thoughts. Did you hear me? I glance up from staring into a steep hill of papers waiting for my signature.

Whenever I ask for Jack’s help he’s always out to lunch. What the fuck does he do around here? I glanced at Elizabeth, she glared at me over her half-moon glasses. I hated using colorful language around a woman who could easily be my grandmother.

He’s the business finance major, I shouted throwing mail across the floor. I graduated from law school a year ago, and I’ve spent that year in our company straightening out Jack’s mess. Get in touch with him, I’m going to my apartment, and I don’t want to see anyone or be disturb. I need a vacation and I’m taking one. Starting today, I’ve declared a holiday away from here and I don’t know when I will return. I’m telling you only, and don’t divulge my whereabouts to anyone.

Not even your mother? Elizabeth asked.

    Especially not my mother.

You know how my mom is. She will be here telling me how I was my father’s favorite, and he wanted me to have the company. That is, after Jack fucked it up. I’m tired of cleaning up after him.

Calm down Mr. Kingsbridge. You just go home and rest. Tomorrow will be different, she said it so calm that I wanted to believe her. But she was part of the problem and part of the establishment.  I hear your brother going into his office now. No, he’s coming straight here.

Good. I have a few choice words for him.

Now, don’t you two start fighting. It’s not good for the company and for the employees to see you two at each other’s throats. I was pissed and I welcomed an old fashion fist fight. The kind we used to have as boys when Jack wanted to take everything from me and he did. But I wasn’t a boy any longer.

Hi, Brad, Jack said smiling, tottering near the large window which held a view of the New York skyline, knocking over a small the table, and heading straight for the liquor cabinet. I need a drink. I leapt from my chair and stood in his way. "Out of my
