Chapter One

I stayed long enough to get an answer. Why had he lied to me? Why did he pretend to be Liam? Because some men do. Some men lie to get what they want. This was the only answer that came back.

I had time to take a shower and search around the apartment. There were pictures of Liam and his brother Sean. Looking at his pictures and bills for the bar he spelled his name Sean. I would have guessed Shaun or Shawn and I would have been wrong on both counts and I was in more ways than one. Not only was I wrong about Sean, I was wrong about Liam or was I. After thinking too hard and wanting too much from Liam, I picked up my purse and headed for the door. When I opened it there stood Sean in front of me. I jumped not expecting him back so soon.

What are you doing here? he asked looking perplexed.

I could ask the same thing? That was a strange question coming from him because he all but kidnapped me to get me up here. 

I was just leaving. You left me a letter remember, and here it is. I handed it to him. He didn’t read it just yet. He stood looking at me with those wide jade eyes. I lost myself in those eyes and didn’t want to go, but I had to. He wasn’t Liam and now I knew it. To stay would be to betray Liam further. How could I explain this Liam? I didn’t want to have to, if at all possible. I wanted to pretend this never happened with Sean and run the hell out of here. But he stood blocking my exit.

You said you wanted me to stay, so I waited for you to come back but you took too long. I have some place to go. I glanced at his hands. I see you didn’t go out for breakfast.

The look on Sean’s face bothered me. His eyes narrowed and his forehead furrowed. I had seen that look before. But it didn’t register just then.

You never answered my question. He walked close to me and I stepped back and the door swung closed behind me. Then he kissed my lips and wrapped me in his arms. His breathing was heavy and I felt his manhood strengthen on my leg. I tried to pull away but couldn’t. How did you find me? He questioned.

What are you doing here with Sean? Liam said. I looked to Sean and with my eyes I begged him to lie.

We met last night. My bad, he said to Liam smiling. I didn’t tell Tasha that I wasn’t you. Why had he taken this time to tell the truth? Liam looked at me and then at Sean and turned around and walked out of the apartment. I stood horrified and couldn’t breathe and didn’t move. The man I loved had walked out on me and it wasn’t my fault. What was I to do?"

Sean strode over to the table like nothing had happened. He will be pissed for a few mornings but he’ll get over it. He pulled the coffee and Danish and croissant out of the bag and said, Eat something, babe."
