    It was almost midnight when Nolan heard the sound of someone opening a door. He kept his eyes closed while he tried to register what may have been happening. Was someone breaking in? He wondered. He had a painful headache but still he peeled his body off of his bed and tiptoed out of his bedroom.  It was pitch black in the hallway leading to where he thought heard the noise. His steps were quiet and carefully placed as he made his way toward his garage. Light seeped out through the crack below the door that led to the garage. His home alarm didn’t go off and he was sure that he set it that night.
