About the Author
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for picking up this book on anxiety, MY book on anxiety. That's right! It's about my journey with anxiety. But more specifically, it's about what I learned and still continue to learn about myself and the condition of anxiety during, and after, my anxiety journey. Most importantly, however, it's about how people can use what I've learned and apply it to their anxiety journey.
Now, let me make one thing very clear right off the bat, and it's very important that I do this. I do not want you to feel as if this is some sort of self-help book. The term self-help, to me, is an older term that means some sort of psychological instructional book. That is not what this book is about, as you will see as you read it. If anything, I prefer the term personal growth
to describe this book. I really don't like the stigma that goes along with the term self help.
To me, it suggests some sort of pop culture fad and it's such a cold
term. I simply don't want my book filed under that label because my book is so much more than that; it has so much more to offer and is more personal in nature than the term self-help suggests and will be of so much more importance than any self-help
book ever will be, I feel. Oh yeah, before I forget and I may repeat this later, the basic concept or thought behind this book is that it's more in the line of just a regular guy (me) telling you about his experience with anxiety. This guy is also explaining what helped him on his anxiety journey and suggesting that what worked for him might work for you.
If you can't explain it simply, you don't know it well enough,
Albert Einstein once stated. I couldn't agree more. I believe in writing using the simplest terms and words possible to get my ideas and explanations across to you the easiest way possible. I'm sure I'm going to repeat this point too, but it's important that you know this and understand why I do this. Ultimately, I want ALL people to take advantage of what I have to share because I feel everybody experiences anxiety to some degree, sooner or later. Some people simply experience anxiety more intensely and/or more often than others. Anxiety is just so wide spread. I don't want my words to miss the desperate and needing ears of the people that may need this knowledge and help the most. I just can't have that! I want to reach as many people as possible. I like to read stuff that is written in a way that is easy to read and I figured most people feel the same way. So, why not write my book the same way? Well, I did! Here it is and here it goes!
When some people read a book like this, I believe, they may think that it was influenced by or based on some scientific or psychiatric aspect or angle. Well, this book wasn't. This book was based on my real life experience with anxiety and what I learned from that experience. I was and still am a Life Coach and I was a Crisis Counselor for many years and elements from those experiences were also used in writing this book, as well as my educational background and other life experiences.
I understand that people simply want to hear about what works in dealing with anxiety because anxiety can be very difficult to deal with. I have been there. I have felt the fire,
the intensity,
and the challenge of anxiety that you may be feeling right now. I have been there, I assure you. There is going to be good, helpful news being delivered with the reading of this book. You will learn that I have successfully walked down that path that you will want to walk down to finally be free
of anxiety. You can walk this path too, and in doing so, you will really feel that you can succeed with your anxiety. I will tell you what worked for me, what you should ignore, what drove and motivated me, what hindered me, etc... I will share with you everything that I can to help you! The most important thing is that you understand that you can succeed!
I will never ask you to do anything except for five things: read this book, trust in what you read, relax the best you can, pay attention to yourself and your reactions in regards to anxiety, and enjoy your anxiety journey. Yes, ENJOY the journey because you are going to learn so many great things about yourself during and after your journey and pretty much for the rest of your life. Beyond that, the rest is
