About this ebook

Casey Franco finally turns his life around and it feels good. Though his parents are still cautious, they allow his little sister to visit him for the weekend. On the way to pick up Irene, Casey sees the sheriff at the gas station. Curious, he stops and learns the clerk believes a man in a van has kidnapped a kid.  As he leaves, Casey sees a beautiful woman arrive—turns out she’s a local detective.

As he and Irene head to his house he notices a van following them. He shakes the van but is stopped by the same sheriff he’d seen at the gas station. He’s making sure Casey’s car isn’t stolen. After getting Casey’s address he lets him go. Weird.

Later, things get hectic when Irene and her playmate disappear. Though he calls the police, Casey isn’t satisfied—Irene is in danger. When he sees the van that followed them earlier, he takes the law into his own hands, but nothing can prepare him for what he discovers… and his rage spirals out of control!

Followed and Taken - Joseph Wonder

Awesome! It feels good to be on my own! Casey said.

He had just rented his first house and was excited to start out his solo journey in Granbury, Texas. It wasn’t so much a journey in the sense of exploring the world or even traveling across country. However, for Casey, just moving out of his parent’s house in Dallas, Texas was something of an adventure.

Casey’s phone rang. It was his little sister. He had called her that morning to tell her he was finally ready to show her around Granbury.

    Hello?

    Hey, big brother!

    Hey kid, are you ready?

    Yea, are you coming yet?

Yep, I’ll be over in like in an hour or so.

Okay, you promised, I can’t wait!

Haha, I know; I'll see in a little bit.

    Okay, see ya soon!

Casey hung up the phone and got ready to leave. He locked the doors, hit the lights, set the alarm, and made his way out to his gray Honda Accord. He backed up until he was past his gate and left.

Casey stopped at the Shell gas station near his house to fuel up before the short trip. As he was waiting for his tank to fill, the sheriff’s car pulled up to the front of the station. The sheriff and the deputy got out and hurried inside. Casey assumed something serious must have happened if the sheriff had come. He wasn’t scared; he was from a part of Dallas where scenes like this one seemed to play out all of the time. However, he was curious as to what type of crime might be happening in his new town. Casey knew he was already running late to get his little sister, but he couldn’t resist his curiosity and ended up going inside.

Casey slowly browsed the aisles, pretending to study every snack item so that he could hear what the cops and cashier were talking about.

Yea, I saw a kid in the van trying to escape. The man saw me looking out of the window and he immediately got in and took off. At first I thought it was a dog or some sort of pet, but then I focused some more and sure enough, it was a kid, the cashier said.

What did the man look like? How about the kid? the sheriff asked.

I didn’t see either one. The man was wearing a gray hoodie and like I told y’all, when I found out it was a child, he drove off.

Okay sir, what type of van was it? Did you get the license plate? the sheriff asked with an apparent frustrated tone.

"Sorry, I couldn’t get the license plate and I couldn’t
