The sun began to rise as Casey and Trevor walked along the deserted road. They could see the urban part of Granbury in the distance, which motivated them to quicken their pace.

About an hour later they got to the city, hiding themselves every time a car or a person passed. They were sure that a call had gone out to all the surrounding areas for them, and they had come too far to be stopped now. They searched for another thirty minutes or so until they finally found Keller Street. Casey and Trevor could see the three story apartments with rock siding and a black metal fence surrounding the complex. They were hoping for a low key entrance, where they could just find the room and open it. This would require a bit more planning.

They waited as a car came out from inside the apartment gates and snuck in after. They power walked to Detective Palmer’s apartment, passing by a lot of people and greeting them as casually as possible. They stopped near a small canopy and sat down at a wooden picnic table. There were security guards roaming around the apartments, making sure everything was okay. Casey and Trevor waited until they left and went towards this green sign thinking that was where her apartment was. They passed a swimming pool, another picnic table, and then two grill stands until finally reaching the sign reading Rooms 200-230.

They then went searching around the apartments for the room. When they made it to unit 217, Casey and Trevor looked around to make sure they wouldn’t be seen entering. They didn’t see anyone, so Casey then put the key inside the doorknob and opened the heavy door.

Casey and Trevor didn’t go inside immediately. They poked their heads inside to scope out for any intruders. They looked to their right to Detective Palmer’s minimalistic small office, but it was clear. They then looked to the left where the dining and living rooms were. There was no one in her small glass dining table or on her sole black leather couch in the far left corner. The television mounted on the wall in front of the couch was also turned off. They then looked at the hardwood floor for foot prints, but didn’t find any. They walked inside and went towards Detective Palmer’s rooms to check in there as well.

ARF, ARF, ARF, ARF, ARF, ARF, ARF!

A gray and white border collie sprinted out from one of the rooms of the hallway. Casey and Trevor then ran into the kitchen immediately fearing their lives.

What the frick! Casey exclaimed as he stood on top of the kitchen counter.

She has a dog! Why didn’t she tell us she had a dog? Trevor asked standing
