About this ebook

A few short court cases involving a newly qualified Solicitor to break his teeth on. The kind of cases that never hit the headlines, but happen frequently in the lower courts. They may seem a little far fetched but they are true, unfortunately!

    CHAPTER 1 Intro

As most lawyers will tell you, you have to take your clients where you find them or, at least, where they find you, usually by recommendation/Yellow Pages/Internet and so on. They usually make appointments, though sometimes you get 'passing trade', clients who just walk into your office, on the off chance they can see a lawyer and get advice, preferably free!

You get all sorts. Here is a sample of those I have advised over the years. Their names have been left out, to protect me from the

    ú Law Society,

ú Laws of defamation and the

ú Clients who might demand commission!

When a client wants advice from a lawyer, it would be advantageous if the client told the whole story. If he tells lies or leaves out important facts, deliberately or otherwise, then the advice the client gets, will either be erroneous or wrong. It would also be a waste of money, so far as the client was concerned, though not so the lawyer, obviously!

However a problem could arise if the client wants advice on a matter of law where the lawyer does not have a clue. This happened to me in this first case involving poaching.

    CHAPTER 2---The Poacher

    The Client’s Story.

This client came to see me and asked for advice
