    I. THE PREGNANCY

    1. THE SYMPTOMS OF BIRTH: THE FIRST TEN SIGNS TELLING YOU COULD BE PREGNANT

Could you be pregnant? Most likely you won’t be noticing the symptoms until you don’t menstruate-or a week or two later. If you don’t keep a record of the menstrual cycle or if it varies a lot from a month to another, you cannot be sure when you have to wait for it. But if you start having some of the symptoms described below-some women don’t have them all-and you didn’t had your period for some time, there is a great probability you are pregnant. Buy a pregnancy test from the pharmacy and find out for sure if you are pregnant!

    1. Doughy and enlarged breast

One of the immediate signs of a pregnancy is sensible and enlarged breasts caused by the increased hormonal level.

    2. Fatigue

You feel tired all of the sudden? Or maybe even exhausted. No one knows for sure what causes the tiredness in the first stages of pregnancy, but it is possible that the level of progesterone increasing fast contributes to the insomnia.

    3. Bleedings

Some women experience weak vaginal bleeds at about eleven, twelve days after the insemination (close to the moment you will be noticing the lack of menstruation).

    4. Nausea and states of vomit

If you fit in the pattern of most women, the morning sickness will not show up until after a month from conceiving (a little lucky escape of this burden). But some women start feeling a light nausea a little earlier. These nauseas do not always show in the morning, the pregnancy related morning sickness, which include nausea and vomit states can be a problem as much both in the morning and afternoon and in the evening.

    5. Increased sensitiveness

If you are in the beginning of the pregnancy, it is not uncommon you do not like the smell of a ham sandwich or of a cup of coffee or other flavors that activate your reflexes. Even though nobody knows for sure, this could be a secondary effect of the fast growth of estrogen level from your body. Also, you might notice that some foods that you used to love seem repulsive to you all of the sudden.

    6. Abdominal bloating

The hormonal variations from the beginning of the pregnancy can give you a bloating sensation, similar the one some women have right before menstruating. Because of this, your clothes might seem tight around the waist, even in the beginning when the uterus is still small.

    7. Frequent urinations

Shortly after the beginning of the pregnancy, you might have to go to the toilet more and more often. Why? Mostly because during the pregnancy the amount of blood and other fluids from the body increases, this takes to a higher volume of liquids that get to be eliminated.

    8. The absence of menstrual cycle

If usually the menstrual cycle comes regularly and all of the sudden it does not come on time, you will probably get a pregnancy test long before you get to the symptoms mentioned above. But if the menstruation is not regular and you do not keep a record of it, you must track the symptoms presented and buy a pregnancy test from the pharmacy.

    9. The core body temperature remains heightened

If you measured your core body temperature and noticed that it remains heightened for eighteen days in a row, then there is a great probability you are pregnant.

    And finally …

    10. The proof: A positive pregnancy test

Despite of what might be written on the package, a lot of pregnancy tests are not sensitive enough to detect a pregnancy until about a week after the absence of menstruation. So if you decide to get a test earlier than the mentioned period and it results negative, try another one after a few days.

    2. THE OVULATION

    2.1. What is the ovulation?

The ovulation process appears when an egg (and occasionally more than one) is released by the ovary, this being a fertile period of your menstrual cycle. Each month, an egg reaches maturity inside your ovary. Once it gets to a certain size, the egg is released from the ovary and introduced into the fallopian tubes towards the uterus. The choice which ovary releases the egg is purely arbitrary. The ovulation does not always change from an ovary to another each menstrual cycle.

2.2. How does the ovulation process establish? When can I get pregnant?

To be fertile, you must have intercourses starting a day, two before the ovulation and about twenty four hours after. The motive: the cells related to the sperm can live two, three days, but an egg cannot live more than twenty four hours after ovulation-unless, of course, comes the fertilization.

2.3. How can I tell which is the ovulation period that I am fertile in?

Establish when you should have the next menstrual cycle and count from that date back between twelve and sixteen days. This calculation offers you some days in which most probably you will be ovulating. For the women not having a twenty eight days menstrual cycle, the fourteenth day is most often the ovulation day. To use this method, you must know how many days your menstruation cycle usually lasts. The best and recommended method for establishing the fertility period is increased attention on your body and learning to see the signs and clues that the ovulation is imminent.

    3. THE BABY’S SEX

    3.1. People talking

There are a lot of people which tell us all sorts of methods and techniques, heard from the elders, to find out the sex of our babies. Most of these tales are just this, tales, but some are fun and don’t involve anything dangerous. Some of the most popular include engagement rings (that are twirled), the size or the shape of the pregnant woman’s belly, or other associations related to the cravings during the pregnancy or even by the position of the bed.

3.2. How can you find out if the baby is a boy or a girl?

The most utilized method to find out your baby’s sex is the ultrasound sonogram. This method is most accurate between the eighteenth and the twenty-second week of the pregnancy. In this period it is easier to find out the baby’s sex. Earlier dates are usually unfavorable for this kind of predictions, and the later dates become difficult because of the agglomerated uterus.

3.3. Which other methods exist to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl?

There are other methods to predict the sex, which are more accurate, but they present risks for the pregnancy. These methods usually have quite easy application techniques, but are commonly done only if other factors that need genetic testing are involved. The most popular methods are the amniocentesis and trofoblastic puncture (known especially by the English name Chorionic Villus Sampling-CVS). These tests can be used in the early pregnancy. They are much more precise than the ultrasounds, with results that are close to one hundred per cent. Most of the doctors will tell you they are one hundred per cent exact but there are still the risks of the lab errors. These are made in the first trimester or at the beginning of the second.

3.4. Likes on the baby’s sex

To be honest, we must admit there are people that have inveterate preferences concerning the baby’s sex. Sometimes this thing is due to the feeling of strong connection related to raising a boy or a girl. The family balance is another factor for which some persons have preferences concerning the baby’s sex.

3.5. Techniques to select the sex – How to select your baby’s sex?

There are families that have preferences on their future child’s sex, so that they choose to influence this aspect. Technologies like MicroSort, the genetic diagnostic pre implantation (PGD), Shettles and other methods for selecting the sex are used, attempts to influence the nature. Some of these techniques are safe while others not so much.

    – MicroSort

It is a technique whereby it is attempted separating the sperm cells responsible for girls from those responsible for boys. The desired gender sperm is introduced directly into the uterus, usually through artificial insemination, and the effectiveness is approximately ninety three per cent rate of success when the choice is a girl and approximately eighty five per cent success rate in a boy’s case, according to microsort.com. MicroSort is based on the premise that the sperm cell responsible for feminine gender, which transport the X chromosomes, are bigger than the sperm cells responsible for male gender, that transport the Y chromosomes. The procedure implies a fluorescent coloration of the sperm sample and then the separation using the laser technology of the two kinds of sperm cells. The X chromosomes, bigger, absorb more color and shine brighter, can easily be identified. After, the sperm cells are sorted and only the ones carrying the desired gender are transferred into the uterus.

    – The Shettles method

It is the most common technique for home and it is based on having the intercourse in certain days of the fertile period. The defenders of the method say that the efficiency is seventy five per cent, but other experts call in question this number. Remember that the chance of conceiving the desired gender is fifty per cent at each new birth, regardless the used method.

The theory is based on the fact that sperm cells carrying the Y chromosomes move quicker but live less than the sperm cells carrying the X chromosomes. Briefly, for those who want a boy, the Shettles method says that they should have sex as closer as possible to the ovulation. If they want a girl, they should have sex two to four days before the ovulation.

3.6. Do you want to know if your baby is going to be a boy or a girl?

Approximately half of the people interrogated say that they want to know the sex of their future baby. Others want it to be a surprise. Some want to know, but only at the second pregnancy. The most common motives for finding out the baby’s sex during the pregnancy are related to planning and the why not? reason. Some people want to set up the future baby’s room or buy clothes since the time of the pregnancy. This thing induces them the question: boy or girl? In many families this is a personal and fierce debate.

    4. WHAT YOU SHOULD EAT DURING THE PREGNANCY?

4.1. Does a woman really need to eat for two?

It is often said that a pregnant woman should eat for two, but this thing is not true. What it is true is that during the pregnancy, a woman has to maintain a good nutrition for both. The developing baby gets all the food from his mother through the umbilical cord, so a healthy diet is very important. If the mother is lacking vitamins or nutrients, then it is possible that the future baby will inherit this deficiency.
