The Relationship Guide to Guides

About this ebook
The guide to relationship guides is the first in the soon to come guide to guides line. This particular manual was created in an effort to help make sense of relationship guides that offer generic approaches that are meant to encompass all relationships. Most people's relationship issues can't be resolved in any specific terms but need to be addressed in a manner that is unique to their set of circumstances. The relationship guide to guides is a humorous approach to addressing real issues and offers an alternative approach to reshaping the way we approach our relationships with people.

CHAPTER 1
Now There Is An Instruction Manual
Most guides will begin by claiming relationships don’t come with instruction manuals. Well now they do…
The first thing that should be taken into account before reading this guide is that I don’t care if you’re talking with Dr. Phil or the guy at the supermarket no one has a better understanding of the dynamics of your relationship than you. This guide will help you interpret all the other relationship guides out there by giving it to you straight so maybe you can develop a means of applying some of this stuff to your life. I am by no means claiming to be a relationship guru or expert and in fact have had trouble maintaining my own relationships at times. However, I believe this is what makes my guide valuable. Most guides give you a generic guideline to follow with no exact information about how to apply it to your specific circumstances. I on the other hand am not going to outline what you should do, but what you should avoid doing. If you put it into context, that significantly increases the credibility of this guide. Typically, if someone attempts to tell you what you should do, more often than not they should be ignored, however if they approach you with a personal experience about what not to do, pay attention.
Luckily for you this guide will not provide you with useless schematics or cheesy mantras. Instead it will attempt to provide you with insight that may or may not improve the quality of your interactions with friends, loved ones or even strangers. The problem with people is everybody is different, if everyone was exactly the same that would make our lives a lot easier. I could write some detailed one-size fits all instruction booklet that let you set up your relationship without any leftover pieces and you would live happily ever after. However, the truth of the matter is there are NO rules when it comes to how you approach your relationships. You may yield better results by implementing things you pick up here or elsewhere, but in reality no one can teach you how to form long lasting healthy relationships with people.
I think part of the joy of forming new relationships and nurturing current ones is the nauseous unpredictability of it all. We can’t get it down to a science because relationships are elusive creatures. What would be the fun in catching a unicorn or the lochness monster, then how would we spend our time? Although it is true you can take steps that can help prevent destroying your relationships with others, you will never reach an auto-pilot moment in your life when it comes to maintaining them. In fact, if you haven’t noticed, what is the first thing people ask you when you lose touch with them for a few days? Why haven’t you called me?
No matter how bad you would like to say maybe it’s because after I get off the phone with you I’m clinically depressed
or "because I don’t
