Baba, I laid the fresh hay on the floor and dusted my hands off. It was a tedious task of getting it fresh first thing in the morning. Oh God, spring was around the corner and in our tribe, cutting tree trunks at this time was considered to be a sin. In no way would I be able to cut the fresh one but I could always go for the one lying on the ground. I had got the sag full of the fresh green grass and was sweating to my toes. Mayu, Baba came out, You came at last he took off his headcloth and kept it on the ground. He appeared to be tired. Yes, I‘ll get you water. There has not been a single person who has not commented or praised them because they belonged neither to my Ma or Baba. It was a mystery even to me. First, I thought myself to be some sort of freak but, then again, my Baba scolded me on thinking on that point so much. You will always be my lovely Mayuri. I smiled because I knew he meant it. Still lost in my thoughts, I had opened the pitcher to take more of the water when a sigh left my mouth. What is it? he gulped the milk in one go and wiped the corner of his mouth. We are short on the water again I picked up the other pitcher and waving him goodbye, placing it on my hip, tucking my little skirt bit higher, headed out of the small cottage. Our economic condition was just like everyone in the village, low and only able to meet our needs. Those metal things known as taps were
