It’s been a long time since I first came across a book similar to this one. Then I found that book ever so helpful in developing my spiritual life. The same can be said of this effort by Brother Joel. The collection of texts and promises of each book of the Bible are like a Bible digest. One can take one or two texts at a time and chew on them all day long.

Another thing I like about this book is that it is the Word of God pure and simple. No human commentary or interpretation. The book provides an easy tool to approach the throne of God and to speak to our mountains. Highly commended.

My gratitude to my Lord Jesus Christ. How can words adequately acknowledge all You have done for me and my family? I love you more than I will ever be able to express.

We’ve come a long way and I will never forget where we began. I dedicate this book to my loving wife, Bimbola and our twins, Toluwa and Tobi. There is no way to overstate the importance of their love and support. Not forgetting members of staff and individuals who have helped me with research and variety of queries.

The continuing and unfailing support of these individuals had once again made the publishing of Standing on the Promises of God book a reality and brought me to a song by Russell Carter that says Standing on the promises that cannot fail.

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,

Through eternal ages let His praises ring,

Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God.

    Standing, standing,

    Standing on the promises of God my Savior;

    Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living Word of God I shall prevail,

STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD

    Genesis to Revelation

Have faith in the Name of Jesus Christ.

    Acts 3:6, John 14:12-14; I John 3:23

Jesus’ Name carries all the authority of Jesus Himself. When Peter spoke in Jesus’ Name, it was as if Jesus were speaking. He didn’t pray for the man at the gate called Beautiful. He spoke words of faith—in Jesus’ Name. In the same way and with the same authority, you can speak to your affliction.

    PROMISES OF GOD

    Promises from Book of Genesis

    Wonderful in Every Way

Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. And God said, See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every 'bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so. Then, God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

    (Genesis 1:26-31; 2:1-3)

    They Shall Become One Flesh

And the lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. Out of the ground the lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. And the lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man. "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2:18-24)

    Establish MY Covenant

"But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark – you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. (Genesis 6:18)

    I Will Never Curse Again

And the lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the lord said In His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the Imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. (Genesis 8:21)

    Earth Remains

While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease. (Genesis 8:22)

This Is the Sign of the Covenant

And God said: This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.

    (Genesis 9:12-16)

    Earth Shall Be Blessed

I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Genesis 12:3)

    I Am Your Shield

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward. (Genesis 15:1)

    For Righteousness

Then He brought him outside and said, Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them. And He said to him, So shall your descendants be. And he believed in the lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. (Genesis 15:5-6)

    An Everlasting Covenant

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the lord appeared to Abram and said to him, "l am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly. Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. (Genesis 17-17)

    His Descendants after Him

Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his, descendants after him. (Genesis 17:19)

Nothing Too Hard for the Lord

Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. (Genesis 18:14)

All the Nations of the Earth Shall Be Blessed

And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, In the Mount of the lord it shall be provided. Then the Angel of the lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: By Myself I have sworn, says the lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice." So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba. (Genesis 22:14-18)

    In Your Seed

"And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed. (Genesis 26:4)

    A Hundredfold

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. (Genesis 26:12)

    Behold, I AM With You

Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and Its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on It. And behold, the lord stood above it and said: I am the lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you. (Genesis 28:12-15)

King Shall Come from Your Body

Also God said to him: "I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body. (Genesis 35:11)

    Promises from Book of Exodus

    I Am Who I Am

Then Moses said to God, Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel ad say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them? And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. And He said, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’  (Exodus 3:13-14)

    My Name May Be Declared

But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth. (Exodus 9:16)

You Have Guided Them In Your Strength

"Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders? You stretched out Your right hand; The earth swallowed them. You in Your mercy have led forth the people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation.  (Exodus 15:11-13)

I Am the Lord Who Heals You

And said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians.  For I am the Lord who heals you.  (Exodus 5:26)

    A Special Treasure to Me

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.  (Exodus 19:5)

Bless Your Bread and Your Water

So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days. (Exodus 23:25-26)

    I Make a Covenant

And He said: "Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord. For it is an awesome thing that I will do with you. (Exodus 34:10)
