Foreword

One of the most liberating and hopeful truths of the gospel

is: "By grace you have been saved through faith. And this

is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of

works, so that no one may boast." [Ephesians 2:8-9]

Whether our need is to be saved from our sin, or from

sickness, fear, poverty, depression, trauma, or addiction, we

are saved by the grace of God through faith. This saving,

healing, delivering, and restoring grace is a gift of God’s

love not the result of our hard work and our best efforts.

We must ask, then, "What is faith? and How do we get it?"

Faith is the resolute confidence that the promises of God’s Word

become my defining reality as I meditate on them, embrace them,

and then allow the Holy Spirit to transform me from the inside out

as I live by these promises. My part is to receive and believe; God’s

part is to save, heal, deliver, and restore just as He promised.

The Apostle Paul tells us, "Faith comes from hearing,

and hearing through the word of God." [Romans 10:17].

Debbie explains how simply this process works.

"We must receive and believe the promises God has for us, instill

them in our hearts, and then pray His promises. We instill God’s

Word in our hearts by reading and meditating on them… As we

believe God’s Word by faith, letting it transform our lives, and

allowing it to play out in the situations we confront on a daily

basis, His Word becomes ‘flesh’—an inseparable part of us."
