Chapter 1: The Saints in Light
Colossians 1:12-14 (KJV)
(12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
(13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
(14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
The saints in light
in this portion of the Scripture is talking of God’s people redeemed with the blood of Jesus Christ, the passage makes us to know that we should give thanks to the Father. You give thanks to someone who has done something or accomplished something for you. God did two things for we the saints in the light:
He delivered us from the power of darkness.
He translated us to the kingdom of His dear son. Let us consider verse 13 of this Scripture properly.
Colossians 1:13 KJV
(13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Colossians 1:13 AMP
(13) [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
Colossians 1:13 NKJV
(13) He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
We can safely infer that the word deliver
means to draw out
also, the word power
in this context is synonymous to control and dominion. Thirdly, the word translated means transferred
or conveyed
. So the Father delivered or drew us out from the power, control and dominion of darkness and He translated or transferred or conveyed us into the kingdom of His dear Son, the Son of His love. Verse 14 also says in Him we have redemption…
that means that redemption is our possession now in Christ.
The Legal Act of Conveyance
What does it mean to convey? It means to transfer the ownership of a thing by legal means. That is why when you buy a piece of land, you are given a deed of conveyance which is the document that has transferred that land from the former owner to you. Now we were conveyed to the kingdom of the dear Son of God. It means were transferred into God’s Kingdom by a legal process and that legal process changed the ownership of our lives.
When you buy a car from someone that has used it before you, after payment, there is a legal document you must have so you will be able to register the car in your name, that document is called change of ownership
and it is usually signed by a legal practitioner. It transfers the car from the former owner to you.
Once again, the Bible says that God conveyed us…, that conveyance is a legal process. God fulfilled the legal process that was involved in conveying us and when the process was completed and perfected, our ownership changed! Praise the Lord.
Now, it is not a prayer matter neither is it a promise or a hope; no. That same instance we gave our lives to Christ, our ownership changed and that is the day we were conveyed into the kingdom of the Son that God loves- the Kingdom of Jesus. Also, if you are in the kingdom of Jesus Christ, it simply tells you that your
