Threat - Diagnosis and Treatment Options - Handbook for Families Facing Threats or Physical Violence

About this ebook
Threats have a powerful effect on peace-loving folks. Fear can become so intense that it is disabling when someone is face-to-face with attackers, unless a deliberate plan of defense and active resistance is in place. The family needs to be pro-active. Questions such as, "Who might be a threat?", and "What might they try to do to us?", and "What must we do to protect ourselves and our property from harm?", must be addressed. Taking lawful moves to fully stop attacks involves serious planning and practice. There may be changes necessary in the daily activities to avoid becoming an easy target. Aggressive responses to physical attacks may require agility, but people with limitations can still develop very effective defenses. By using this book and going beyond to seek professional counsel the family will be better equipped to not only survive but to be victors over unlawful criminal activities.

Protecting You, Family and Home
Material in this booklet is copyrighted by Robert Donohue 2012. If, through oversight, an item has been presented that is a direct quote from a single source that is the only possible provider of that information, our apologies are herein presented with the request that we be notified so as to provide corrections with proper acknowledgement in later editions.
The Author does not provide legal, financial or other professional advice or counsel in this booklet. You must not rely solely on this booklet, or on agencies or other sources to provide for your safety and survival. These can all be helpful, but agencies may not be able to respond as quickly as needed, or may not be able to devote adequate resources for your situation. You may also need to seek professional legal, financial or other help in making preparations, not just to survive, but to win... for you, and for your family and for your home.
Christian Solution
The Author is a Christian, so he writes from that perspective. He is also a husband, parent and grandparent. He is deeply concerned about the safety of his wife, three grown children and five granddaughters. He lives in a world that has great opportunities, but it is also tainted by greed and violence.
As you look at the various chapters, you will get a sense of what threats are out there. You will develop an understanding of why criminals do such horrible things to innocent people.
Restricted Access Notice
You should preview this material completely. You must not allow susceptible, impressionable children or young people to read or listen to the material.
Likewise, if you have anyone, any age, who is mentally or emotionally challenged or who has demonstrated violent, or irrational tendencies in the past, you should make absolutely certain to keep this material away from them. You should also make certain that your local Social Services or appropriate medical and legal personnel are aware of their condition.
If you are aware of someone who is taking prescription medication, be sure to read the Precautions
or Side Effects
linked to the use of the medicines. It may shock you. And, it may also shock you to know that many of the mass killers in past decades, had abnormal personalities. They may have been adversely affected by their drug use, perhaps even to the point of committing harmful actions.
Threat is Serious
We assume you have real concerns about the safety of yourself, family and property. With that in mind, the booklet is not a path to paranoia.
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Folks that have had no threats or similar concerns may fail to see the need for much of what is included here. Hopefully they will know someone else who could benefit from purchasing the book.
For those who have been harmed or threatened, this booklet contains some graphic discussions about defending yourself and others.
There are three threats that need priority. Some might think these have no place in this booklet, but I believe anything that causes you to be fearful or that hurts you, your family or property in some way, is a threat that you need to resolve.
Hopefully, you will benefit from the review of these three items as well as from the rest of the book.
# 1 Threat is a spiritual issue. Satan desperately wants to destroy you. Jesus Christ wants to save you with His free gift of salvation. You can defeat this #1 Threat by putting your trust in Jesus Christ. As you read the next chapter, you will be far more comfortable if you have defeated this threat.
# 2 and # 3 Threats are both financial. Poverty desperately wants to grind you and yours into oblivion. One way this can happen is for you to die or become disabled causing financial disaster for your family. Defeat # 2 Threat by having 10 times your annual income in Term Life insurance, with Disability coverage. This Author recommends only Term Life Insurance. You will see the repeated emphasis on protecting your family throughout, but it takes money for them to survive if you are gone.
# 3 Threat is your State and /or Federal government. They will take over your children and your estate and make all sorts of decisions you should have made while alive. Defeat # 3 Threat by making a Will and a Directive for Care of Minor Children and update them whenever you have changes of residence, marital status, added dependents, and more. Go over this with your attorney and CPA. Make arrangements for the custody of your minor children or dependent older persons in the event of the death or incapacity of both parents, and share those agreements with all concerned. This document is not to be buried in your Will to be discovered in Probate, days or weeks after the deaths. The dependents will need care the very same day. Make a Will and a Directive.
Do you know anyone whose lives have been hit by one of these three? It only takes a heart decision to resolve the No. 1 threat ... a matter of a minute or two. Threat No. 2 takes less than an hour. Threat No. 3 may take as much as two hours.
Five hours to defend yourself and loved ones and maybe even ownership of your home. You need these resolved before you tackle the items that follow.
Who is to Blame?
QUESTION ... Regarding mass shootings, who is guilty of crimes by people who showed signs of strange or anti-social behavior before they committed crimes?
The answer is ...
1) The person who did the crime is the first guilty one.
Also guilty are ...
2) ... Those closest to that person who noticed strange behavior and did not report it to health professionals or law enforcement agencies are guilty too. A parent's love or the deepest concern of a sibling cannot dismiss the potential harm the person can commit, nor can it excuse the life of guilt the aggressor may experience for their own crimes. Tough love simply must reign supreme, followed by compassionate support.
And these are guilty too ...
3) ... Those who were friends and noticed strange comments in personal conversation or on Facebook, Twitter or in school notes or texting or emails and did not mention anything to responsible adults, and perhaps did not follow up on the action or lack of action of those adults. Noticing artwork on notebook covers or on bedroom doors or wall posters or in art notebooks. Fad art can be quite gruesome and by itself may not give a clue to the person's demeanor, but taken with other clues, such art can add to the case against them. Notify someone and follow up
