    About the Author

    Intro

I love listening to lies when I know the truth.

    —Unknown

The body can’t lie. That’s why lie detector tests are fairly accurate and why there are so many police and FBI agents that use body language in their interrogations. Hopefully, the lies in your life are milder than the murders and crimes detectives need to solve. However, you don’t have to be a law enforcement pro to detect lies.

The lies in your life may be smaller, but they are still important to resolve. Does your customer really have the budget they’re telling you they do? Are they happy with your service or the proposal you gave them? Did that job candidate inflate his résumé? Is that person wanting to get a payday loan really who they say they are? And, most importantly, did the kids eat those chocolate donuts on the counter or did the dog?

Not detecting lies in these circumstances and others can negatively impact your bottom line and your relationships with family and friends. When you know what to look for, you can detect lies for yourself and avoid the pain that comes when you discover the unfortunate truth.

Written as a quick reference field guide, in this book you’ll find just what you need to know to survive in the wild and detect the lies in front of you, no matter how big or small.

The US Marine Corps Guide to Survival, Evasion and Recovery uses a quick reference checklist for survival. Using it in your life can help you pay attention to find the truth in your own life. If you’re like most people, you pay so much attention to yourself that you forget to pay attention to people around you. And they’re screaming the truth at you all the time... even when their words say otherwise.
