    About The Author

    FOREWORD & ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This is my first full attempt to be what I want to be. This is also an answer to a question that many people have asked me in various points throughout my life. Which is:

What the hell is wrong with you?

This book is just some of the things that go through my mind, screaming to get out in one way or another. Creative and artistic minds know what I mean. Some of this will make sense to you. Some probably won’t know what I’m talking about, that this is too enigmatic. Or boorish and unsophisticated, or that it’s beneath their expectations of what poetry and written thoughts should be. In any case, it’s unadulterated and 95% true. The other 5% is in case someone tries to sue my butt. But for those that this does make sense to, hopefully you’ll be encouraged to know you’re not the only one that goes through certain stuff and that someone else feels the same way you do. This work is really for you. Everyone else, sorry, no refunds.

That said, I like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for who I am and for all I’ve been through. I really can’t complain because my life could’ve been a lot worse. I may not be the most obedient of your children, but I’m trying.

I want to thank those that supported me. I like to thank those that didn’t, for motivating me to prove them wrong. I like to thank the publishing companies for turning down my manuscripts (suckers), and forcing me to self publish. I like to thank my late grandfather, Charles Fairley, who once told me I could be anything I wanted to be. I like to thank the School of Hard Knocks. No one teaches better. I like to thank the members of the Haters Coalition, who I had many encounters with. When I get to the top, don’t call me. To every job I ever had; ugh! And finally, to a certain woman that will remain nameless, well, the decisions and actions that were made weren’t mine, but such is life. Hopefully in the end it will work out for everyone. Be well. Love you the best. Love you always.

    Sincerely,

    Shawn

To enlighten the mind from the mundane

    Like a curvaceous petal

Gathering drops from the blessing sky

    To quench thirsty lips

Like a perfect pair of warming eyes

That soothes the soul before it rages

Like arms hugging to shelter bliss

From the harshness of the world

Like the sighs of content after the highs
