About this ebook

The Romance Game: Played And Lost is an adult-themed collection
of poems. In an age of social networks and relationship websites, love
can happen across vast distances. One never knows who one meets
and falls for. The Romance Game: Played And Lost deals with one
such relationship. In the beginning (Hiding Beauty and Trophy Girl)
the attraction is mutual, and the pursuit relentless (Flowers for the
Lady and Conquest In The Midwest). Next come the excitement and
euphoria of new love (Youre I My Head), followed by the excesses of
limitless gratification (O, Gena Porny, How I Know You).
Eventually, as the two individuals discovered the limits of their ability
to meet each others non-sexual needs (limited by his religiosity) things
begin to fall apart; and when the end becomes apparent (Love, In
Desperation) she decides to take what she could (Nightmare). All this
stated in rhyme, and with rhythm.
The Romance Game: Played And Lost is an entertaining yet moving
anthology of the pains and gains of romance. The collection of poems
fascinatingly captures the many emotions (from a male perspective)
of falling in and out of love. From the empathetic A Helping Hand, to
the harsh Nightmare, the collection covers the full range of emotions
possible in a tumultuous affair. In an age of social networks and
relationship websites, love can
happen across vast distances.
One never knows who one meets
and falls for. The collection of
poems in The Romance Game:
Played And Lost tells the story
one such relationship. Beginning
with mutual attraction, the story
progresses thru the pursuit, to
the excitement and euphoria
of new love, to the excesses of
limitless gratification, only to
end in heart break. All this told in
rhyme, and with rhythm.

    Footnotes

    The Romance Game I Play

Mine is a life that goes up and down,

With twists and turns, as if Hollywood bound.

I’m a man of ‘righteous birth’, and so I’m inclined

But, it seems, I’m destined to not continue that line

    Now, I have discerned,

That isolation, loneliness or solitude I’ve earned

Because of a religious vow that was broken

But with needs, for which still not spoken.

Because of the broken vow, I fell

And may be bound straight for hell

But before I answer hell’s bell

I’ll have my fill from the ‘carnal pleasure’ well.

Yes, since because of broken vow, marriage is out of the question for me

    May be,

Because of something wrong I might have done,

Or because I labor under bad karma (of lives past) which I’ve earned

    And, because I vowed,

    Intoxicants, I’m not allowed.

So, romantic encounters are my only recourse

    As a source,

Through which to escape the reality

Of life’s frustration, and the occasional drudgery.

    Therefore, emotional fulfillment I pursue.

    Thru every dating avenue.

    However, without lament,

    Let me make this comment:

I’m never the one to choose,

    For some strange reason,

    But always, by my lovers,

    The one chosen.

Or, more accurately, I’m always the looser

When, of the woman, I am the chooser

    This time was no exception

And this which follows, is documentation.

    Personal Ad

    I’m a writer wannabe

    Who writes mostly poetry.

I like to watch sports on TV, mostly football,

Or perhaps a movie; I enjoy them all.

    Sometimes I’ll grab a mic,

But routinely, I’ll ride my bike.

Tennis I would like to play,

So be my partner and make my day.

I like to dress up or down,

To attend high society events or to hit the town,

    To go to dinner or to take a stroll;

It doesn’t matter ’cause that’s how I roll.

I love to meet new folks,

Make new friends, and tell a few jokes.

So let us, you and me,

    (Why not? If you’re hot)

    Keep each other’s company.

We can have dinner at an out-door café
