The books served there purpose. I read a dark and twisted mystery prior to this one and I needed a lighthearted mystery to cleanse my brain. I was ok that all the books were formulaic and that the storylines were recycled. My two problems with this series were; the character Piper and the unimaginative choice of blonde for nearly every character’s hair color.
Piper was annoying, self centered, unreliable and the voice used by the narrator for this character made my head ache, yet in each book Piper gained more prominence as other characters disappeared.
Nearly every character in this book was blond; strawberry blonde , Sandy blonde , dark blonde. When I read a book and the character features and characteristics are described I like to make my mental image of the character as the story progresses but since nearly all the characters were cookie cutter blonde they all blended together in my head and I couldn’t separate them.
I started another mystery by this author and within the first page the character was described as blonde. I deleted the book. I know blondes have more fun but good grief.
