Not sure if story had potential because the narration was lacking emotion and did not pull the listener in. Barely able to complete the book, and not inclined to listen to another by said narrator or author.

Literally the worst narration I've ever heard. I have to stop listening to this series because I can't handle it.

The story was ok. The writing is a little cliche. She tends to repeat cliche phrases or combines multiple cliches. But the stories a good enough I would probably listen to the entire series IF there was a different narrator. I find the narration irritating. It’s very monotone and reminds me of the repetitive clicking of a metronome. The lack of variation in tone and pitch makes it really easy to zone and miss entire sections. I think I’m done with this series.

What's with the cadence of the narrator?
It was very off-putting, the end of each sentence sounded like it was being read by a depressed valley girl. Also the volume going up & down in areas, sometimes with what sounded like a word being dubbed over what was originally said.

I really tried to keep up with this series, but I can’t!! The narration is just horrible. The first book was amazing. I have made it to chapter 2 of the second book and can’t do it anymore. So sad the rest of the series is narrated by the same.

The narrator is so awful. I tried to listen. I really did. But couldn’t continue. I love Blake Pierce books but couldn’t listen to these.

The editing of this series is atrocious. The story line is amazing! The narrating sounds like she's reading from a car manual.
There are so many things wrong with these books, I can't count. The only reason I keep listening is to see what happens.

Great storyline but awful narration….she almost put me to sleep during a murder scene, the most monotone voice for a suspense story- would love to finish this series but I just can’t stand the narration

Would love to finish listening but this narrator sounds like she’s being forced to read out her creative writing assignment in front of the class! So off-putting I couldn’t enjoy this.

Love these book series but jesus christ, wtf is the narrator? lol, just so so so so awful to listen to. She sounds like those valley girl trying to suppress that accent but it still comes out - pretty much someone who reads lazily. Lord, I cannot stand listening to it

I'm interested in the story but the narration is way too monotone. I just couldn't get through it.

The narrator is pretty boring to listen to and therefore takes away from the story. It would be like watching a movie without any sound effects or music. But otherwise a good read!

    Interesting new series!
I am definitely getting more into this series. The more Ella Dark works with her senior partner, the more I like both of them. The serial killers that they hunt are becoming more devious and difficult to find. I hope to see more personal details about the characters the next book. I keep waiting for more heart gripping personal hurt. We will see what is to come in the next installment.

I must say this book has surpassed my expectations! The author seems to be very prolific yet somehow, I have never read anything by Blake Pierce. Until now. And I have most certainly enjoyed this story too!

It was a good, exciting story about a lady FBI agent working a case about a serial killer who leaves bodies up in trees. Now sometimes I enjoy this kind of story and sometimes I don't. It all depends on the writing style. Mainly I like getting into the main character's head so I can understand them. And that certainly happens in here with Ella. I quickly knew all sorts of stuff about her. And even though I have not read the first book at all I was quickly able to grasp the situation here.

The story moves fast and there are many twists and turns, but I think what I like best is the fact Ella is very human. She makes mistakes. She feels stuff, including embarrassment if she jumps to conclusions. But she also listens to her gut too. Because sometimes she just knows. And she is willing to put her life on the line too...

And there is certainly mystery in here too. Because who is the killer? I did not try to guess. I just enjoyed reading this...

I will definitely read more books in this series!

I enjoyed the story and characters however the narrator ruined much of my enjoyment. Very sing-songy voice without much variation making it difficult to pay attention. Unfortunately this narrator has recorded all the rest of this series. I cannot listen to another book by her so will check out another series by Blake Pierce instead.
