About this audiobook

How do you choose between the love of your life and the life you had before you met him?

Laci V’s star is bright. The up-and-coming singer’s concerts are filling stadiums, and her current hit song is soon to be nominated for a Grammy. But after a storm rolls through one of her outdoor concerts, Laci wakes up in 1855.

Matthew finds a woman from the future in a field near his homestead. He takes her home and the rugged, handsome frontiersman falls for the beautiful time traveler. Her stories about the future fascinate him and her determination and grit capture his heart.

Laci falls in love with Matthew’s kind and gentle ways, his fierce love for the land, and his indomitable pioneer spirit. While he may be the perfect man for her, he doesn’t live in the century she wants to live in. Laci longs for the modern conveniences of the time period she came from, for the friends and family she left behind, and for her blossoming career.

Matthew realizes that to show his love for Laci, he must make the most heart wrenching decision of his life—help her go back to the time she came from. But what coincidence brought her here and how can it bring her back?

Forever You is a romance filled with love, loss, and learning to love again. Does love find a way to break the bounds of time, of past and present—turning what seems impossible into an extraordinary love story?

Featuring the original song, Take Me to Forever.

I read Forever You at the beginning of 2022 when it was first released, and I was blown away with how much I adored this novel. I’ve been a longtime fan of Leah Busboom, but she went to new heights with Forever You, and since then it’s been a favorite of mine. So, you can imagine my delight when I heard that it was going to be made into an audiobook and, let me tell you, it elevated this novel to new heights.

In the acknowledgments Leah states, “I poured my heart into this story, and I hope it shows.” Well let me tell you Leah: mission accomplished! The originality of Forever You is really what captured my imagination. To think that time travel is possible is something I’ve dreamt of since watching Back to the Future for the first time as a child.

I will admit the first few chapters into the past were quite jarring and unbelievable to me. I would’ve thought there would be more friction between someone from the future going to the past, but I will say that the details that Laci brings up are pretty true. The differences between now and back then are like night and day, and I can already tell you I wouldn’t handle it that great myself, especially the whole outhouse situation. That is one thing about it being written in first person, there is never any doubt how Laci is feeling as she experiences a whole new time period.

There are moments of utter heartbreak, as well as heartwarming elation as Laci and Matthew fall in love, though as I read I knew the inevitable. Reading their story swept me up in all the feels and had me hoping against hope that they would somehow find a way to be together forever.

This is by far my favorite novel in the Connor Brothers series, the different genre like a breath of fresh air. In true Leah fashion the character development is perfection, the writing engrossing, and it truly touched my heart. Just when I think I can’t love this series any more another book comes out to make me fall even more in love.

The narrators were outstanding and really brought this story to life. I would love to see this made into a movie one day, as it really does capture the imagination in the best way. It shows that forever doesn’t always look like how we envisioned, but it could be better than we could’ve ever hoped for.

*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
