    It was supposed to be a relaxing vacation in a small town. Now, they're on the run from religious fanatics.

    When five friends are invited to a religious celebration in a small, isolated town, they are initially showered by the townsfolk with gifts and attention. As the days go by, however, it becomes clear that the community is not as innocuous as it initially presented itself. Mysterious, robed figures violently beat people who express different opinions, strange rituals take place in the church at night, and armed gunmen patrol the town perimeters – all under Prophet Martin’s orders.

    What was supposed to be a relaxing trip for the outsiders turns into a struggle for survival, with the entire town zealously following Prophet Martin’s command – to find and kill the sinners.

      Reminds me of Jim Jones and the People's Temple, but more twisted if that's even possible. Kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting to learn more with each turn of the page. The narrator kept me intrigued. Can't wait to explore more of this series and author!

      Crazy twist that comes at the very end. Could have been shorter. I skipped chapters 25-30. The woods are the woods.

      The ending ... ? 2nd book by him. On to the next!

      I am hovering at 3 stars but choose 4. It is well written and it kept my interest but there was no real horror for me. I keep trying with his books but find myself waiting for something powerful to happen and it never does. It's like he can bring to the edge and never pushes you over. Characters were well developed and the story was good but it was all done before and done so mildly. Narrator was good. Try it you may like it if your not a horror freak like me.
