About this audiobook

Perfect for fans of Stephen King's IT, a group of friends return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they first stumbled on as teenagers in this mesmerizing odyssey of terror.

An atmospheric, haunting page-turner, full of memorable characters and sublime terror, from the author of Come with Me

For nearly two decades, Jamie Warren has been running from darkness. He's haunted by a traumatic childhood and the guilt at having disappeared from his disabled brother's life. But then a series of unusual events reunites him with his estranged brother and their childhood friends, and none of them can deny the sense of fate that has seemingly drawn them back together.

Nor can they deny the memories of that summer, so long ago-the strange magic taught to them by an even stranger man, and the terrible act that has followed them all into adulthood. In the light of new danger, they must confront their past by facing their futures, and hunting down a man who may very well be a monster.

A great horror read with both IT and Ray Bradbury vibes

Unique characters. Definitely takes some inspiration from Stephen King. An interesting take on small towns and surviving child abuse.

Great book. One of my new favorites, imo it’s up there with Summer of Night and It.

A well paced, excellent supernatural-horror thriller. This book will have you at the edge of your seat and has several stephen king-ish tones to it, if you are a fan of his books you will love this one as well. Excellent book.

Excellent... loved the narration and the characters were incredible. Love the premise, a little Stephen Kingish but held its own merit for me. Plenty of suspense, the end was cool and not what I expected. The narrator and Malfi were a great combo. Love to do another audiobook with the 2 of them. Great stuff!

A bit of a slow burn. It took me about 8 chapters to get invested in the story. There was quite a bit of setup that very neatly tied the ending up. This book gave me a culmination of vibes from a few different and loved stories: What's Eating Gilbert Grape and IT really stood out. Maybe a little cliche at some points, but I think people actually like good cliches. The only thing that really bothered me was that the voices for the audiobook sometimes ran together. Dennis was my favorite character and honestly the reason why this story worked.

I do not know what to say, but Malfi blows it out of the water AGAIN!!! This book's narration was so phenomenally well done that it was perfect! Now, about a half of the way through there was something that really triggered me in a bad way, and I thought that this fact was really going to ruin the rest of the book for me..... I wanted to write a note to Malfi and tell him: "You DO know that lesbians....DO have first names right?" Yes, he continuosly kept referring to a gay female character as 'the lesbian' and it was so fucking annoying, but I just got over it. I knew it was not going to change. So, this story is going to remind a lot of people of King's "IT" but to me this book was SO much better actually than that book, (and that is one of my favorite coming of age horror books ever!) and I am not afraid to admit it. It is the most creepiest and scary tales of a 'Magician' who is maybe one of the most diabolical of horrible characters that I have ever read of in fiction!!! The book is SUPER scary, but so well told that if it does not affect you in some way....there must be something wrong. I actually cried a couple times. And the relationship between two main characters who just happen to be brothers is going to rip you apart! LOVED this horror novel...and will most definitely read the physical copy the next time I experience it. Highly recommended.
