About this audiobook
This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams.
Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time.
Afraid and trapped among strangers, Mina is desperate for answers. Who are the watchers and why are these creatures keeping them imprisoned, keen to watch their every move?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Much better than it ought to be, all because the authors takes the trouble to layer the scares and suspense with compelling portraits of all four principle characters. The end is abrupt but not out of keeping with the story. I don’t usually care for sequels, but I would read one for this book. Many tastey plot, character, and thematic rebars left dangling from the concrete of the last bridge. I don’t mean that as a bad thing

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book kept up a nice level of suspense. I had my suspicions, but the story didn't end the way I thought. Spoiler alert: It does have a cliffhanger ending. I enjoyed the narrator’s voice as she really conveyed the intensity of the story.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A thrilling survivalist creature feature with some added Irish folklore
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great read! Wonderful suspense. I binged it in one day!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It’s excellent. Don’t let the exposition wear you down. The meat and potatoes of the book is worth it. Now stop reading reviews and listen before you find a spoiler.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Captivating story, pleasant narration and easy read albeit creepy. Irish folklore based horror elements and intriguing character dynamics make for a gripping tale. I stumbled upon this book while looking for similar creepy stories as From series, and was not disappointed. The ending was good, i just wish there was more.Heard there’s a movie in the making for 2025, definitely looking forward to it!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5As a Novelette this could have scored a 4 or more.
However, as much post-1980 fiction goes it is simply longer than it needs to be (in this case 3 times so).
Sadly, words =$$$$ leaving the overall whole to suffer in return.
Which I blame on the publisher, not the writer as we all need to eat.
A neat twist that could subjectively be viewed as worth the wait. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a terrific novel. I was on the edge of my seat till the end....but!!! Please tel me there is a sequal!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm interested. I will be wondering if it turns into a sequel
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed the journey. The twist was predictable as was the ending for me but it may not be for you! As horror goes this is a good book in the genre and I’m happy to see it as an audiobook as it seems to be a rare occurrence to get the horror genre as an audiobook.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was great I thought, it kept my attention thr whole time and it has a different spin on fairy tales, I'm so happy I found this author
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A solid survival horror that centers heavily on social dynamics and raises a question about what it takes to stay human when faced with unfathomable horror. Would highly recommend for fans of the Cloverfield movies.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it! Creepy and beautifully written. I look forward to reading more by this author.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm a fussy reader absolutely loved it! A very suspenseful unique story that didn't bore you inconsequential details. It took me weeks to finish as the soothing narrator's voice kept putting me to sleep. The ending left me with wanting sequel as there many unanswered questions about the Watchers.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent horror and suspense. You know it’s a good one when you want a sequel or prequel after you’ve finished listening to the last sentence!
