The Girl He Pined Book 1
No sooner than placing The Girl He Pined on my currently reading bookshelf, than I started receiving comments from my GR friends saying, "Let me know what you think." "I love Blake Pierce." "A favorite of mine." I had never read any of his books and so I was taken aback when I saw that he is quite prolific. So I felt very secure in reading what I felt was going to be a Silence of the Lambs rip-off. The novel begins with a 25 year-old Ph.D student, Paige King (not an MD), interviewing an incarcerated serial killer for her doctoral thesis. He tells her, that he has enjoyed her questions, that he admires her, and that he intends to escape tonight. She dutifully reports the proclamation and inadvertently sets in motion all she was trying to avoid. He immediately sets out to complete his "unfinished business" before setting his sights on those who have wronged Paige. The FBI agent tasked with the case realizes that although Paige is young and inexperienced, she had made an undeniable connection with the killer such that Paige might be a secret weapon in the recapture. Fast-paced, and suspenseful, I must admit that I dreaded turning the pages concerned with the possible depravity flowing from one page to the next. I was shocked that someone who considers himself a hardcore horror fan like me might be so affected by the writing. I'm not going to lie. I was swept away by this book.

The Girl He Chose: Book 2
Paige is still undergoing training at the academy when she is surprised by an invitation to join a new search for a serial killer. Everyone doubts she is ready for that – including herself – but Christian is sure that she will be the best match for the case because of her academic knowledge and previous performance. Paige leads the team in a series of wrong searches until she settles down and analyses what is she doing wrong. She sets a new aim, one that may highly be against her own life. A good plot and an interesting ending that kept me interested in reading more stories in this series.
