Three stars for the story, four stars for the writing.

Let me e'splain.

This book really captured me from the beginning. There was just something about the writing that felt fresh and engaging and original.

Do you like fast burns?
And stories where not much else happens other than the romance, a skeleton of a plot, and the most mild of conflicts before the HEA?
Then this is a book for you.

Full disclosure, I personally am NOT a fan of fast burns, and I do like more plot/character development/etc.
But I STILL ENJOYED THIS BOOK!
In particular, I found the FMC to be uniquely likable. THIS is how you do "quirky"----quirky doesn't have to mean "barely able to function in reality". THIS is how you do "strong, confident woman"----that does NOT have to mean "straight running bitch"!

I enjoyed the MMC as well. Yes, he had PTSD and other issues thanks to his time in Irac......but for those who avoid super heavy story lines, I don't think this aspect was overdone.

And I liked the way he helped solve her writer's block.

For these reasons, I gladly round up my instinctive 3.5 stars to 4, for the purpose of this review, and will be looking for more from this author!
